HELP! Is it possible that the VideoStudio9 demo has corrupted my camcorder drivers for good?
I have the notorious Sony HC14E camcorder (crappiest Sony software in the world). For me, it actually worked fine after I disinstalled the Sony software, and imported video with VirtualDub. Yesterday I installed the ULead VideoStudio9 Demo, and managed to import a DV tape onto PC. Today, for no reason at all, my PC stopped recognizing the camcorder!!! Every time I plug it in, it asks for the driver installation directory, and I have tried EVERYTHING, the Sony Disc, the Net, even a pay service for drivers, but the installation inevitably fails! The camcorder is not even recognised by VirtualDub anymore. I tried with an i-DV cable, but the same happens. What can I do??? Any ideas? The error seems to indicate that the drivers are for Windows 95 or not right for this device! But they are the original Sony ones and until yesterday they were working! Does anyone know whether the problem has nothing to do with VisualStudio? Or should I uninstall this and go back to VirtualDub? Thanks, Gabriele

Videostudio doesn't come with any drivers that would facilitate the recognition of Plug-and-Play devices, nor does it replace any files such as Firewire drivers.
What file or files does the installer look for? Usually it will display the name of the file that it is trying to locate. This could be a very useful piece of information in solving this. Also, does the Device Manager (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager) show any devices that aren't working properly and/or need attention?

THANKS for your reply. In order to be as detailed as possible I have written what happens, with pictures, here:

If you have time to look at it, it may explain the problem to you. It's a mystery to me...
Thanks a million, Gabriele
