Instant Project - rotating images
I am a new user of VideoStudio Pro x7 and decided to try the 'Instant Project' before creating a slideshow from scratch. The instant project templates I am using are set in 'landscape' position. Not all images I'd like to use were taken in landscape. I'd like to be able to change some of the image settings in the project from landscape to portrait. Is there some way of achieving this?

Re: Instant Project - rotating images
Brian,
Thank you. I knew there had to be something simple I just wasn't seeing.
After playing around with the orientation of the image and the settings in the edit tab I was able to rotate the image from landscape to portrait.
However, you were correct in the odd results. I'll try to explain what happens. The original setting: a photograph appears to float in from the right side of the screen to the center while the viewer sees the image zooming in. After the changes: the photograph no longer floats in from the right side of the screen but appears as though from behind a partition about one third of the way in from the right side. The overlay track is rotated to adjust for the portrait position. In order to make the image float in from the right side of the screen this overlay track needs to be widened which distorts the image or makes it too large to fit the screen.
My overall opinion of the 'instant project' option is that it isn't 'instant.' I wish they had included places for images in both landscape and portrait positions. Then we could maneuver these slots around to suit the orientation of the photograph we are using. I really liked the idea of the instant project with it's moving photographs. I thought it would make a family slideshow a bit more interesting.
I'm still looking forward to working with videostudio x7 and believe it will be a very good program, once I've learned how to use it.

Re: Instant Project - rotating images
Hi
Most if not all Instant Projects use landscape type images, after all a video uses landscape aspect ratio.
The problems associated in using portrait images have been raised before.
When you replace the Placeholder with your own image, drag your image from the library – press and hold the Ctrl key to drop on the placeholder, that will replace the image using the original edits – pans – sizes etc.
But replacing with Portrait images will cause the image to be distorted to fill the frame., and that the problem.
Instant Projects are a good means of seeing what can be done with our clips using different editing techniques,
Some apply a simple fade in fade out, others may have FX filters applied or maybe use the Customise Motion options. Some are quite complicated
