I'm taking video at 1920 x 1080 29.97 frames / sec. H.264. Posting to You Tube from VS videos look great however when making DVDs compression artifacts are very bad when played on TV or computers. I've tried several different settings with the same results is there a way around this. For DVD is the max resolution 720 x 480. I can't seem to get higher. I tried AVCHD and Blue Ray with good results however I'm trying to make this DVD for a wide group of people who may not have blue ray players.
Thanks for your help.

Re: DVD settings for Canon 70D?
The max resolution for DVD is 720x480 for NTSC and 720x576 for PAL.
Of course, there will be considerable loss of quality when you convert HD video to standard DVD video. The DVD quality is also dependent on the bitrate you are using. What are your settings for making the DVD video?

Re: DVD settings for Canon 70D?
Hi
Some things to try
1 / From Settings – preferences (F6) Edit Tab – Resample Quality set to Best
The Canon camera probably uses Frame Based not Interlacing ( Upper Field)
2 / Try rendering using Frame Based (progressive) Share - Create Video File – Mpeg2 ….
3 / If your video is shorter than 60 minutes use Constant data rate not Variable.
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: 8000 kbps
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
What version of Video Studio are you using?
For X7 Share - Mpeg2 -- Use the + symbol to add a new Mpeg2 template as above.
For earlier versions
Use Settings Movie Profile Manager to create the Mpeg2 template
4 / Render your project to create the new Mpeg2, play that file to check quality.
5 / use that file to burn a Disc.

Re: DVD settings for Canon 70D?
Much better results! Thanks for your help. Using VS 7.
In the drop down MPG menus the first option- for 16:9 60i, upper field first gave the worst result. The second option 30p, frame based, variable data and a third custom setup using constant data gave similar and much better results.
Making the DVD with the good mpgs gave much better results than converting the video directly to dvd even with the revised settings.
Thanks again. I'm really pleased with the results
