Hey all-
Just bought VS Pro X7 and it seems like a good program and the interface is easy to figure out except . . . there's no audio track.
I see where a voiceover or audio file can be imported, but I need the audio that's part of the original video. There's no audio track at all (but I did check the mute button anyway). The audio is there in the raw video clip, it just doesn't transfer when I bring the clip into the timeline.
What am I missing? This is my first time using a Corel product so I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for your time!
ps - In case it matters I'm using 64 bit Windows 7 on a PC. Below is a screenshot of when I right-clicked the video track
PROPERTIES BOX ADDED AFTER FIRST REPLY BELOW

This reply made before the properties box was added to the original post above
If you really want to see the audio from the video separately then RIGHT click on the video in the timeline and select 'Split Audio' and the audio will be put into one of the audio tracks.
not quite sure why you need to see the audio separately though - you can do everything you need with the video and audio as one.

Re: no audio track?
Hey Brian - thanks for the quick reply, but I must have posed the problem incorrectly. I don't want the audio track to be separate - I just want it to be there.
There isn't any audio track whatsoever at all.

Re: no audio track?
I think the problem, though, is that no audio is available in the clip in VS -- see the Properties box in pololo's post. EDIT -- crossed with the latter's reply.
What version of Quicktime do you have on your computer, pololo? (And are you Chilean with a nickname like that?!)

Hey Ken (and Brian)
Not sure what's going on with the forum, but I replied to Brian's post earlier and the reply is MIA.
Ken you are correct - there is no audio track at all.
I'm using a Canon that uses .mov for its video format. I don't have quicktime at all. Do I need it? Prior to buying X7 I was using Pinnacle Studio Plus with the same camera and didn't have any problems with editing. I don't have QT because I never needed it.
ps - Nope no Chilean blood. The only chili I know is the kind you eat.

Re: no audio track?
Any file with the .mov extension requires Quicktime since that is the Quicktime format -- though it is really only a wrapper which can enclose various other formats. So I suggest you install the current (free) version of QT.
As for 'pololo' it is Chilean slang for 'boyfriend'. (I used to live there!)

Re: no audio track?
Hey Ken - thanks for the reply. I'm a bit confused tho.
Are you saying X7 Pro doesn't work with .mov files? That seems strange since even Windows Movie Maker opens and renders .mov files. If that's correct, I'm getting my $40 back!
ps - the user name was supposed to be polo, but I was so tired and frustrated trying to figure out how to get X7 to work that it ended up being misspelled.

Re: no audio track?
Ken is NOT saying that VideoStudio will not work with .mov files - many of us regularly edit ,mov files
Ken said VideoStudio WILL edit .mov - as long as you have Quicktime installed.
ps - - do you want to change your username

Re: no audio track?
Okay, installing QT solved the no audio problem (in case anyone else is having a similar issue). Thanks for your help.
ps - don't worry about the username
