Video Studio X7 SP1 (64 Bit) Problem Exporting

Post by sanityassassin »

Hello All,

I have searched the forum for my answer but have been unlucky...have also contacted customer support and have also (so far) been unlucky there.

Here is my issue. I just purchased VideoStudio X7 Ultimate for 64 bit two days ago because I was using an old editor that did not have good support for the current generation of HD videos. I am trying to edit video from a drone camera which records in 1080P at 60FPS in MP4 format (AVC 1 CODEC at a VBR with a max of 30 Mbps). Unfortunately, I can not find anywhere in the software how to export my finished project in this same format. I can not find any MP4 option at 60FPS in 1080p resolution (although it exists for other higher resolutions). The closest I could find was to use the AVC/H264 option and max out the quality. Unfortunately, after my video is rendered is looks worse that the original/unedited format--especially with high-white pixels of clouds--instead of just being white you can see a small grid pattern instead. I just want to be able to work in the native format of my camera. I received instructions from customer support telling me to create a custom profile that matches my video files...this is what I tried to do from the very beginning and was unable..hence why I contacted them. I have created a video showing what I am talking about (see below), as well as a detailed description of my source files. Someone please help! Been stuck for two days!

Welcome to the forum!

First off, check in the VS Preferences and make sure the little box on the General tab beside "Show message when inserting first video clip" is ticked. Then go to File > New Project. Then insert one of your original video clips in the timeline. With that box ticked, you should get a message box asking if you want the Project Properties to match those of the video. Accept that, and the Project Properties should now match. When you finish your editing, you then go to Share and at the very top, in fairly small letters beside an empty box, you should see "Same As Project Settings". Tick that box, give the new file a name and click the Start button. After rendering you should now have a new file with exactly the same properties as the original.

Another option, if the first clip in the project is one of your mp4's, is to tick that Same As box but click the downward pointing arrow and choose "Same As First Clip" instead...

Good luck!!

Thank you so much...yes, that worked much better. I could tell immediately that was the right format since it rendered in just a moment (without transcoding it to something else). Here's my next question...so, on the share window, since I checked the box for my exported video to match the project settings, the options to edit the profile are grayed out. If I uncheck the same as project settings, there doesn't seem to be any way to go to an MP4 profile that matches my settings. The reason I ask is that even though I followed your guidelines, and they appear to work, there are still some very small (but perceptible if you look) differences in the video quality. I want to make sure that the H.264 quality is set to max but I don't see how I can check that.

Thanks again,
Brian

Just as a test...I loaded my original clip into the program...did not do any editing and exported it right back at the same format. The exported file was 1 MB smaller with a 0.1Mbps lower average bit rate. The new file also has this additional information in it that was not on the original file:

Color primaries : BT.709
Transfer characteristics : BT.709
Matrix coefficients : BT.709

So perhaps this is why I am seeing a slight color difference?

Thoughts?
