The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
Today, the Corel Photo Group is excited to announce the release of our first update to PaintShop Pro X7. PaintShop Pro X7.1 is now available on our product updates page at http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/updates/ and is actively being deployed from the cloud to your PSP—you should see a notification any time now!
Over the last several months since the release of X7, our development team has been hard at work developing enhancements and bug fixes guided by feedback from users here on the forum, via Corel support as well as within our various social media channels.
While ongoing updates to our products are nothing new, the road to PSP X7.1 has taken a route paved by insight gained from you, our customers. While the changes may not be immediately obvious on the surface, behind the scenes, we are working to be more rigorous the creative and inspired users of PaintShop Pro, to develop product insight.
This new update has been driven directly by user-generated feedback gathered from our various online communities and support team. We want to do more than deliver a product that works, we truly want to help you achieve your best photo ever by delivering a product that helps you reach your goals. We’re dedicated to this and we are going to do our best to get better at hearing and understanding your needs and acting on them.
In this first update you’ll find several bug fixes and enhancements, including:
• A new in-app content delivery system, capable of bringing you additional picture tubes and other content to use when editing your images, without leaving PaintShop Pro
• No more memory access errors with older plugins, with new Windows DEP on/off selection
• Restored drag-and-drop capabilities restored (with layers and from 3rd party app in Windows 8.1)
• Increased support for 16-bit .PSD files
• New ability to dock palettes to the left side of the program window
• Nikon D5300 purple hue issue corrected
• UI and color improvements
• Overall stability and performance enhancements
• And lots more! For a more detailed list of what’s new and improved in our first update to PSP X7, be sure to check out the release notes for more information.
Learn more at: http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/ ... 7-SP1.html
We hope that many of you will benefit from these updates to PSP, but we want this to be part of an ongoing series of updates—and to do that, we need your insight. Please tell us what you want to see in future updates… and don’t forget to us why. Bug fixes are often obvious, but if you want to see a change in the way a certain feature behaves, we’d love to know how your suggestion would help solve a problem you face. This doesn’t mean every suggestion or feature request will make into PaintShop Pro—but we will add it to our backlog for consideration and it will be given due attention. We’re serious about listening and we can’t wait to hear why you use PaintShop Pro and how we can help make it better for you!
Thanks and please don’t hesitate to share your ideas.

Thanks for the link, Alex
I just want a program that works, preferably 100%, but that might be a bit optimistic

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
I just installed the patch and was very disappointed to see that there were no new cameras supported. I have a Sony A77 ii that ASP 2 supports but not PSP X7. Very disappointing.

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
The information sounds great but after downloading then trying to install I receive a message saying I don't need it? And no, I do not already have it installed. My current version is PSPX7 17.1.0.28 the new version should be PSPX7 17.1.0.72 (after SP1).

Maybe it is confusing when you have the "beta patches" installed?trueblue wrote:The information sounds great but after downloading then trying to install I receive a message saying I don't need it? Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
I don't have the beta patches installed. When I received the final version the beta version was uninstalled.
It seems I will have to uninstall the current version of PSP, reinstall then try again, however, others are unable to install the SP1 too.
Why isn't anything simple with Corel products?

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
Thanks for bringing back drag-in-drop in Windows 8/8.1! I missed that feature.
Edit: I closed PSP, then opened it again and now it's not working again.

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
I did a complete uninstall including all custom folders etc. Ran CCleaner / Registry cleaner. Rebooted and reinstalled.
Installed SP1 and all is running well.

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
Several times today an advisory has popped up telling me that SP1 is available for installation. Each time when I attempted to install it, I was informed that it was not needed. I could not determine if SP1 was already installed. Your comments put my mind at ease by stating "the new version should be PSPX7 17.1.0.72 (after SP1)", because that is what I have. Thanks.
Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
I had no problem installing the update, but I just wish i didn't.
Opening a tif file, PSPX7U deletes it's EXIF data (there ARE EXIF data, i checked it using Exif Viewer).
Please fix this soon!

Re: The Road to PaintShop Pro X7.1
I was curious and looked at what happens to the EXIF data of a jpg opend in PSPX7 SP1.
Nothing. They are still there.
But all the EXIF data in a TIF file besides "author" and "copyright" is killed by PSPX7 SP1 as soon as the file is opened.
Once again: Please fix this as soon as possible.
