Preview video does not play "Clip"

Post by SailingandSuch »

I've tried the search feature but cannot locate an answer to my issue.

I'm using Corel VS Pro X5 that I purchased a few years ago and I have used it flawlessly for those years until now.

When I place a video file from Media Folder window into the Video Track, I can't see the video "Clip" in the preview screen when I try to Play it. However when I try to review it in "Project" mode it shows just fine.

One thing I can do to get the clip to show is to Split the audio and then it will play the video alone in "Clip" mode however without sound.

File Type : NTSC HDMV
Video Type : H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Audio Type : Dolby Digital Audio 48000Hz

I do not have the latest update, can't get it to begin the install for some odd reason. It doesn't seem this update will fix the problem.

UPDATE:
VideoStudio Pro X5 Service Pack 2 is now available. This free update includes:

Fix for Facebook uploading failure issue.
Fix for the library linkage error.

Thank you for the assistance ladies and gentlemen.

If you can split the audio, make that a separate file, and render it to, say, standard WAV format in an audio editor, such as the freeware Audacity. Then reinsert it in VS in one of the audio timelines. But I cannot understand why absolutely normal Dolby audio and your AVCHD cannot work together as they do for most other people...

I don't understand why it doesn't work either.

It has worked flawlessly many many times in the past... I can't think of anything that has changed since....

Hi

What version of X5 are you using, go to the Corel Guide (orange disc top right)
Then the Cogwheels top right for About Corel Video Studio X5
The updated SP2 should be 15.2 0.10
The “2” in that number indicates SP2 has been installed.

Have you tried re-installing the program?

There is also an option to re-set the workstation to its factory default.

From the knowledge Base..........
Resetting VideoStudio Pro X5 to its Factory Default Setting

In order to reset VideoStudio Pro X5 to its factory default setting, you will need to rename or remove a specific folder under your User Profile folder.

Before performing this procedure, please ensure that VideoStudio Pro X5 is not running.

Note: This will reset your library and you may need to re-import your videos once completed.

On Windows Vista/7:
Click on Start.
Click in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu.
Type in: %appdata% and hit enter.
In the new window, find the Ulead Systems folder.
Open the Ulead Systems folder.
Open the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder.
There should be a folder named 15.0 here.
Rename 15.0 to 15.0_old.
Launch VideoStudio Pro X5.

If you wish to restore your original simply delete 15.0 then rename the "15.0 old" folder.

Thanks Trevor for you help!

I checked my version and I am running 15.1.0.34 so I have downloaded and updated to ".2"

I am still having the issue although it is slightly different. When I attempt to play the video file on the video track, it runs through the "clip" in just a couple seconds when it should be taking over 30.

So I have just uninstalled the program and now I'm having trouble getting it to reinstall..... Oh boy.

I am getting the message "The installed version of the application cannot be determined. The setup will now terminate".

Gulp... What now?

That message shows when trying to install a service packs that has already been installed, maybe Corel should change the wording of that message.
