VS X6 the rendered video does not play
Hi guys
I installed my pervious VS X6 PRO on the brand new Toshiba notebook of my son. I was quite happy as the program works very well under his OS W8. The only problem is that the rendered videos somehow do not play on his computer. We rendered the original AVCHD video into m2t and into MP4. The rendering procedure is OK. The finished AVCHD video appears as a black icon on the right side of the screen, the MP4 version appears with the initial frame. If he wants to play it, there is just a sound, on the MP4 version sometimes short sequences of the video appear in the preview.
With W Media Player the MP4 video plays normally. On my computer both files are OK!
Any idea what to check?

Hi
Make sure Quick Time is installed on the Laptop.
Normally QuickTime is provided with the program ---- VS X6 was the only version NOT to provide QT

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
Hi Trevor
Thank you for your reply. I installed the QT V7.7.6.
It did not change anything in VS. Interstingly the original clips were also MTS and all are working, just the rendered versions do not.
I rendered the video again into AVCHD m2t format. Stamp icon on the right screen contains the the initial frame, but it does not play and even the sound drops randomly.
It is very funny, because the MP4 version on the timeline plays the video randomly, the sound is continous. When i move with the marker around the timeline it shows every frame in the preview window, just the standard Play does not work on the rendered file. On the original videos ( does not matter if mts or mp4) are all working fine.

Can we assume you ticked the box in Preferences > General to "Show Message when inserting first video clip"? And when rendering the original AVCHD to another AVCHD, did you choose either Share > Same As Project Properties or Same As First Clip? If so, how did the resulting video play?

If your son's computer is W8.1, the stock media player will not play m2t files. Nor will it play DVDs. Manufacturers add software to be able to play DVDs, but probably not m2ts.

Hi Ken
We tried all 3 versions, the result is the same. All video original clips are in AVCHD format, the preferences are set for HD 1920x1080.
I also tried with MYpEG optimizing and MP4 (1920x1080).
The rendering itself is OK, when I copy the file into my computer I can insert it into the vS X7 and everything is OK. On his PC the same thing does not work ( he has created some titel clip what he wants to attach to each of his film like a trailer). The clips, rendered in any of above formats, when put on the timeline or just into the preview window do not deliver pictures. It is running ( the sound in continoues in MP4 version) but no picture. When I stop the clip and move the cursor on the timeline manually the MP4 file delivers normal pictures in the preview window ( each frame is there I checked at least 100). The AVCHD video does not deliver any picture. The videos from the cameras ( also AVCHD ) work fine. Interesting when I want to play the rendered files, there is no pucture, but when I stop it at any position a static video appears in the preview window.
It seams that his W8.1 OS has some issues with the files generated by VS X6. (32 vs 64 bit?)

Thanks, I know, but the VS X6 is playing ( on the same computer) the avchd videos from the cameras, just not from its own rendering!

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
Yes, and that's probably because VS is using QT to play within the software.
So as a result m2t will play in VS but not in Media Player. The suggestion on the forum is to download VLC Media Player. It plays almost anything.

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
My problem is that the VS X6 does not play the rendered m2t neither the MP4 files, it plays without any problems the same video formats from the camera.
Just an example.
I put my mts clip on the timeline, it plays. When I render this clip with the VSx6 ( without any changes), just rendered to the same format, or to MP4, the new file cannot be played in VSX6. The files are working fine on my W7 computer with VSX7.
I need the files created by the VSX6 on the same computer, as this short video is planned to be a start sequence on each his videos, ie. he plans to start always with this clip and add the new ones. The video rendered is OK ( in Mp4 format it can be played by Media Player or VLC), just during editing, one cannot see this short clip in VS.

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
OK, so, m2t and mp4 files rendered by this computer will not play when put back into VS? Does any format rendered by this computer work? Does WMV work?
I had VS x5 on my W8.1 computer for a while. It did crazy things, but I don't remember it doing that. I may have never gotten that far because it crashed every time it burned a DVD. X7 works.

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
It is getting to be funny.
I put the rendered m2t cilp on the timeline, and rendered it again into simple MPEG2 (DVD 16:9). The rendering process is again error free, on the right side the new finalized clip appears with initial picture, when I try to play in VS there is no preview, just the sound. When I stop it in any moment the correct frame appears in the preview window. This means that the unseen m2t video works correctly in VSX6 just the preview does not work. I attached to the rendered clip a short original and rendered all together,it is the same. The new clip is OK, I can play back on any other computer just not in vSX6 under W8.1!
The clip rendered into MP4 can be played also with Media Player in W8.1.
That means the final video made on W8.1 with VSX6 is OK, just the VSX6 cannot use the rendered MPEG formats. I just rendered the video into WMV-HD 1080 25p works fine, i.e. The rendered video can be played in VSX6 and also can be pulled to the timeline for further use with Preview!
The video rendered directly into MPEG2 (16:9 SD) crashed in last second (at 99%), but the file seems to be OK, and cannot play in VSX6, neither with Media player. It looks like the problem is with MPEG formats. It seems that also VLC has a problem with W8.1, they do not have a VLC working under W8.1.
There is one general setting for 60/50 p (progressive) processing. Is there any way to check in which mode is the program?

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
I'm afraid that is simply not the case. I have the current version of VLC on my fully up to date Win 8.1 and it works perfectly with every format I throw at it: mpeg-2, mp4, AVCHD, MKV and many others... It is my player of choice on Win 8.1... but I can't explain your other problems, unfortunately...It seems that also VLC has a problem with W8.1, they do not have a VLC working under W8.1.

Go to Settings, is Enable 60 / 50 Editing selectedweaver wrote: There is one general setting for 60/50 p (progressive) processing. Is there any way to check in which mode is the program?
Also the timeline will use 00:00:00:59 (up to 59 frames)

Well you do seem to be having some strange problems.
Can I ask, can you check that the laptop is using upto date graphics drivers.
Yep I realise that the pc may be new but maybe the drivers have been updated.
I found new drivers for my wifes laptop via Windows Optional Updates, but maybe a visit to the manufacturers site ………..

Re: VS X6 the rendered video does not play
Thanks to everybody!
The laptop is brand new (Xmas present). When he started, the first two days the computer just updated everything. I also checked yesterday the video drivers, all are on the latest stand.
Regarding the VLC, I just read this information from their home page few hours ago.( I wanted to download for him the VLC player to check the rendered videos).
I copied my old VLC V2.1.5 for 32bit system and it plays all new rendered videos, also the AVCHD!
It means definitively the VS X6 has the problem with its own format. ( maybe the 32/64 bit structure? )

"It means definitively the VS X6 has the problem with its own format. ( maybe the 32/64 bit structure? )"
At least with some versions of W8.1. I had problems with earlier versions of VS, but I have no idea how wide spread it is.
" ( he has created some titel clip what he wants to attach to each of his film like a trailer)."
So consider using a video converter to change this clip to MWV so he can reuse it. Though as long as it renders OK I'm not certain he needs to be able to see it in the timeline.
