When editing or rendering HD video (file type .m2ts) VS XY stops working with - "Corel Videostudio has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found"

Re: Multi trim & rendering HD video Program stops working
Hi Paul
Welcome to the forums.......
I use MTS files from my Panasonic HD camcorder without problems.
Do you know if your project properties match your video files properties.?
Go to Preferences f6 , check the option to Show Messages when…….
Start a new project
Add/insert your video to the top timeline, you should receive a message to match your properties , choose yes/ ok.
I don’t use multi trim, but prefer to use the scissors directly on the timeline, cutting and deleting unwanted frames.
You don’t give any properties of your video files other than they are m2ts, please right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
You could screen grab that panel, (alt+ Prt Sc to copy) save as jpeg image and attach to your post.

Hi Trevor
File properties attached.
I have tried turning of the Proxy facilities as well as your suggestion. Also exited some programs which could cause a conflict e.g Copernic all to no avail.

Re: Multi trim & rendering HD video Program stops working
Hi
Are you having problems with all your video files. This one is quite long at 2,8 hrs although I don’t quite understand the properties.
The files size seems small given that it is encoded using 20000kbps, I would have expected about 6 Gb per hour,
That would make your clip 15Gb something just does not add up.
Was this file rendered using Video Studio?

Re: Multi trim & rendering HD video Program stops working
Hi
It started life as a .ts file captured from a TV tuner in the PC. The file size was about the same.
the ts file caused VS to crash almost immediately and was rendered by Nero Video. Unfortunately the original file was lost.
testing with a fresh capture results in the same symptoms and crashes.
Nero seems to handle the video fine but is a real pain to use

Re: Multi trim & rendering HD video Program stops working
Hi Paul
First I do not see TS types listed as one of the programs supported input formats:
As far as I know TS types are more suitable for transmission rather than editing, so yes I guess you will have to convert to a more editable format.
Unless your tv tuner can be set to capture other formats?
Converting to mts or m2ts should be ok but try using Mpeg2 instead of H264, I think TS uses Mpeg2?
I found a converter called Format Factory, a little old looking as things go but seems to do a good job.
Take care when installing as it tries to install other unwanted bits and pieces.......
If you are able to capture a short sample, upload to Windows One Drive I can try on my pc.
