Tech Notes:
Machine - Win 7 Ultimate / 8 GB Mem / Q9400 processor
Corel - VidStudio X7 Ultimate (installed 12/20/14)
Camera - Samsung S4 Galaxy
Multiple problems with just some of the MP4 files from the S4. After loading the MP4 clip & hitting Sound Mixer, VS X7 sits there with "Loading Wave Data" in the clip timeline (I've waited up to 10 minutes). Task Manager reports the app is "not responding" (oh, really). The only way out is to end the process and suk up the loss of any unsaved inputs. This has happened multiple times, but not with ALL MP4 clips (only 2 out of 10 in the current project). I tried loading the MP4 into a blank new project, it still crashed the program.
Next approach, converted one of the problem child MP4 files to WMV, imported it & hit "Sound Mixer" and.....no problemo! Unfortunately, the file size of the WMV is only about 1/4 that of the MP4, so I can't help but think the resolution will be compromised (I won't know for sure until I save the project to MPEG-4).
A forum search showed another sound mixer crash issue, but that one was using an odd mix of video/audio files.
It seems to me there is a bug in the program somewhere. Any thoughts from crackerjack land about a fix or patches available?
Thanx

Re: VS X7 Ultimate - Sound Mixer crashes program with MP4
Don't know it it's any help, but when I ran VS x5 pro ( a 32 bit application) on my current machine, I frequently got not responding errors and long waiting times for audio data. Even a crash after burning to dvd. The 64 bit version of x7 (not ultimate, though) has no such problems.

I have the same problem with MOV and MP3 files, after loading the sound mixer it sits there with "Loading Wave Data" in the clip timeline and the program crashes! And I have the x7 ultimate version 64 bit!! Has anyone yet found a solution for this problem?

Re: VS X7 Ultimate - Sound Mixer crashes program with MP4
jaco,
From what I read on the forum, try the WMV file. Maybe just a project with that file, burn an ISO and view the ISO with VLC Media Player ,to see if the quality is good enough.
A possibly better route is to save the WMV version as a high resolution mpg2 (you can select similar setting to an mp4. Then put the new mp2 into a blank project in the share stage and burn an ISO. Depending on the length of the video you may need to adjust the bit rate. Something not easy to find.
I wish there was a thread or knowledge base article somewhere with all these, and more, hints that are not in the manual but would be good for us new folks to know to save a lot of hair pulling.
