can't burn movie onto DVD

Post by jfrank »

I have had VS pro x7 for over a year. Recently, it no longer is able to burn a movie to a DVD. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program but that didn't work. It still isn't able to burn it. I don't get an error message. I just get a message from windows that tells me the program is no longer running and it is going to close the program. This always happens when the DVD is 30-40% complete.

If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.
thanks

Does Windows show the burner as a drive? Can other burning programs access the drive?

On the final page of the burning module, instead of choosing to burn an actual disc, choose to burn an ISO file instead. If that works through to the end, then you can play the ISO on a free player like VLC Player, and if it is what you want, then you can burn the ISO to disc (hopefully) using Tools > Burn ISO... or any other program, like Nero, which can also burn ISO files to disc.

I actually tried an external DVD burner to see if the computer's CD burner was the problem. Unfortunately, it stopped burning the DVD at the same point as the computer one. So I know the DVD burner isn't the problem.

Hi

Lets go back a stage…recommended work flow

Open your project to show in the edit timelines-----
1 / How long is the project? If over 60 minutes you may have to adjust the data rate for rendering.

2 / Right click one of your video files and choose properties, what are they?
You could take a screen shot of that window and attach to your post.

3 / View the timeline at 30%-40%
What is there, what is on the timelines, have you added any filters, extra clips, titles etc.

4 / Render your project……
Share Mpeg-2 16:9

Does that complete without problems?
If yes.......

5 / Share Create Disc
Start a new project, nothing in the timeline
Share Create Disc DVD – opens the burner module.
Top left for Add Media Add Video file—choose the file created above.

6 / Create your menu…….
On the final page choose to Create Disc Image ISO file
Deselect Create Disc. (if you do not see that option – press the down arrows (chevrons ) far right)
Choose a save location.
Does that complete ok

7 / Using VLC Media Player play the ISO to test quality.

If OK

8 / Using VS Tools -- Burn from disc Image ISO will burn the file to disc.
