Possible to sync audio and video clips in timeline?

Post by thebat »

I have been putting together a video that involves cuts from many different cameras. One of the cameras does not have sufficient sound, so I have synced up a different audio track with the video shots from that camera only. Everything looks great, but I find I now need to re-order the clips within the video as a whole. Is there a way to link a video and audio clip together so they will move together and remain synced or will I have to re-sync everything once I move it? Basically what I want is kind of the opposite of splitting audio from video.

Hi

VideoStudio has a function called "Ripple Editing" whereby you can lock the relative positions of clips in the timeline to each other so that as you add or subtract then all other clips move to stay in relative positions.

That's the theory - and it usually works but under some circumstances it does not so it is not always the cure-all for your problem

to invoke it you need to click on the little padlocks at the left end of the timeline to 'lock' them - first the bigger one at the top to enable ripple editing and then each track you wish to lock to the top track.

There is further help and instruction on page 73 of the User Guide

Thank you!!! I knew there must be a way to do it, but I could not for the life of me figure it out. Would never have guessed that was what "Ripple Editing" meant.
