sequencing images within folders in PSPx6
I shot a number of pics on vacation using two different cameras. One camera recorded date/time info, the other didn't. Is there a way I can sequence the images so that they appear in (roughly) chronological order for when I project them as a slide show? Can you manually move the images, or is there a way to add on date/time info to the untimed images? I'm using PSP x6, 64 bit version. Thank you!

Re: sequencing images within folders in PSPx6
I have had a similar situation when I was testing out a new camera and comparing with an older camera. I had two sets of images covering the same time of day and I wanted to put them together as one set of images.
I used Irfanview to renumber set 1 with and increment of 2 . Set - Name001, Name003, Name005, Name007, Name009 etc. I viewed these in a Windows folder with Thumbnails
I had the second set renumbered Name001, Name002,Name003 etc. and viewed this as Thumbnails in a secind window beside the first window of thumbs
Then did a comparison and changed the names of this second set to suit the position eg Name002, Name006, Name006a, Name006c ( three images needed to fit between Name005 and Name007.
Once renamed so there were no duplicates I moved the secon set into the first set folder so they were interspersed. Then Renamed the combined set to make the numbers agreeable.
Takes a bit of time but when in a situation like this theer is no real automated way to do it.

I don't know how you intend to project the images from X6. However . . .
In Manage Mode, ensure the folders containing the pictures you want to show are in Collections. In thumbnail view select the photos and drag them into a tray. You probably want to create a new tray for this. In the tray you can drag the photos into any sequence you want. When you double-click an image it displays in full window. You can then move through the sequence using the arrow keys.
The reason for putting the folders you want into Collections is that if that is the source, when you close and reopen X6 the pictures will remain in the tray. If the pictures are dragged from a folder that is only in Computer the pictures will be removed from the tray when you close the program.
I've been using Picasa for years largely because of the thumbnail displays and also because you can create albums with pictures from any folders and because you can change the sequence of any images.

You can right-click on the image file in Windows Explorer, click on Properties and then the Detail tab where you can enter date and time info.rreims wrote:or is there a way to add on date/time info to the untimed images?

Re: sequencing images within folders in PSPx6
Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions. I was going to load the photos onto a laptop and then just run a slide show from Windows explorer. At Mark's suggestion I've downloaded Picasa and will just run the slideshow from there (once I load it onto my laptop as well as my desktop.) I was unable to enter the image time/date via Windows, but will be more attentive in the future to make sure that is dialed into the camera, especially when I'm using two cameras on a trip. Thanks again, Randy
