Right-Click Menu for jpg

Right-Click Menu for jpg
In Windows Explorer when I right-click a jpg file name, one of my options is "Open with Corel PaintShop Pro X4." I upgraded from X4 to X6, and want to now open that file with X6, the 64 bit version. How can I change the right click menu to do so? I have looked at Nirsoft programs, but that did not help, and I have corresponded with Microsoft, but they too were not able to help me. I believe that there is a dll that controls the menu, or at least the Corel part.

Re: Right-Click Menu for jpg
Hi
I think it’s a Windows issue or maybe a register setting?
If you right click any Jpeg—choose Open With – do you see any options for X6.
Also
At the bottom choose Open Default Program
You should be able to browse for the Corel PaintShop Pro.exe associated with X6
And double clicking a Jpeg should open the default program

I believe it is a dll from Corel that is used in this case. I can use the "Open With" but wanted to save some key strokes.

Re: Right-Click Menu for jpg
Interesting. Even though I have X7 as my default, X4 and X5 are the only programs in the right-click menu list.
As Lata indicates, the alternative is to set the default program and double-click instead of right-click. Go to Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs to set associations.

Re: Right-Click Menu for jpg
I prefer Windows Preview as the default since it loads faster. I was hoping to eliminate some clicks when I actually want to use PSP X6.

Re: Right-Click Menu for jpg
I use Irfanview as the default double click option.
On Windows XP I get :
For Right click on a jpg I get :
Open with Corel Paintshop Pro X4
Open with Corel Paintshop Pro X5
Open with Corel Paintshop Pro X7
Open with Corel Paintshop Photo Pro X3
and continuing down to
Open with>
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
. PictureViewer
Corel Instant Viewer
Corel Paintshop Pro X4
Corel Paintshop Pro X5
Corel Paintshop Pro X6 (32 bit)
Corel Paintshop Pro X7 (32 bit)
... Paint
Paintshop Pro X2
Paintshop Pro 8
and Windos 7
Same as above but x7 is out on the direct Right click,
but Open With continues with added
Corel Paintshop Pro X6 (64 bit)
Corel Paintshop Pro X7 (64 bit)
I rarely use any of these, preferring to view in Irfanview and when editing open the preferred version of PSP and drag drop from a folder window into the workspace in Edit mode.

Re: Right-Click Menu for jpg
I didn't know that Windows Preview existed. Tried it now; in Win Preview portrait photos are rotated 90 deg. In all other programs such as Picasa or X7-Manage the thumbs display correctly.
Hartpaul, do you know how you got the X6 and X7 to display in the right-click menu? How does one edit the menu?

No . They just seemed to appear there without any need for me to do so. AS I said I rarely use that to open files.
Sounds like you need to edit the Context menu items. This article may provide an answer.
