Hi All,
Yet another topic that seems to have been discussed before, but that thread didn't reach any conclusion.
I noticed that on X2 as well and I thought this would be an issue solved in X7, but it's still there. VideoStudio causes literally millions of page faults. I'm running a batch conversion right now and PerfMon shows me that it's generating an average of 90 page faults per second. At some point it jumped to 400+ page faults per second. If my math is right, each page is 4Kb of memory, so it keeps swapping 300Kb to 1.5MB of data between memory and disk all the time, which kills performance. Since all that I/O causes interruptions, there is no way that this process is going to take any advantage of a powerful CPU.
That number is astronomical, I have never seen something like that before. This looks like the entire video file is being brought to memory instead of operated as a stream.
Does anyone know if this has already been reported to Corel?
Thanks,
Fred
