I'm trying to make a slideshow with music in the length of 90 seconds only and yet the VS X7 won't let me do it!
I'm still using the trial version, is that why?
I only proceeded until the first step of transporting the images onto the program.
Anyone knows why?
TIA!

The trial version will allow you to do everything the full version will do.
Why wont VideoStudio not let you do it ? - sounds like the easiest thing in the world to do
what error message does it give you that prevents it ?
you say you put the images in the timeline (good start) - then I presume you add the music ?
then what do you do
we cannot see your computer screen - help us to help you - you must tell us every thing you do and what gappens

Re: Making a slideshow movie with music of only 90 SECONDS
Tell us, for starters, how many images are in your slideshow... In other words how long will each picture be on screen for? Are you using transitions between pictures? And is the total slideshow to be only 90 seconds or is the music 90 seconds and your want it to repeat behind a longer slideshow? (If using transitions, you have to be aware that it will reduce each slide by half the transition's length for each slide's designated duration... And what designated duration have you set in Preferences for showing a still image?

16 seconds(for 5 images)Ken Berry wrote:s how long will each picture be on screen for?
No but VS automatically applies zooming and panning effects to it.Ken Berry wrote:Are you using transitions between pictures?
I wanna customize each single slide to make the whole slideshow to be APPROXIMATELY 90 seconds, because that's how long the music is.Ken Berry wrote:And is the total slideshow to be only 90 seconds or is the music 90 seconds and your want it to repeat behind a longer slideshow?

Re: Making a slideshow movie with music of only 90 SECONDS
So there is a total of only 5 images... But for a 90 second music clip, that would make each photo appear for 18 seconds rather than 16, and that is an awful long time for each to be on screen, even with panning and zooming.
But I don't understand why you can simply right click on each image and set the duration for each at 18 seconds. Then if at the end of the music, the last photo is a little longer or shorter than the end of the music, just left click the photo, and it should be highlighted with a yellow box. Then left click and hold the right hand yellow bar and drag it to the right to match the exact end of the music if it is not on screen long enough, or to the left if the picture is a bit too long...
Personally, if it were my slideshow, I would probably put a black panel of around two seconds before the first photo and after the last photo, and insert a cross fade between the panel and the photos. That would give a slightly more artistic fade-in from black and fade out to black. This would probably require you to play around with that yellow box on the final photo to shorten it a bit so that the fade out to black starts a couple of second before the end of the music. That way, the screen would be black at the very end of the music, rather than having the photo just click off at that point...

I'm trying to make a slideshow video with the music of approx. 90 seconds.
The problem is, VS seems to automatically apply Zoom and Pan transition effects to the slideshow, thus causing the duration to be reduced and whole project not doable.

That timer thing right below the media area is not clickable.Ken Berry wrote:

Re: Making a slideshow movie with music of only 90 SECONDS
"That timer thing" is in fact just the clock which tells you how long the clip in the preview screen is. If you have a photo in the timeline, then over in the far right of the screen, about half way down, there should be a blue Options tab. Click that and it will bring up another clock, which *is* clickable to the right of the preview screen.
But you don't have to worry about that in any case if the photo is in the timeline. Just right click it, as I said above, and then choose "Change Photo Duration" or click and drag the right hand yellow bar of the photo right or left to lengthen or shorten the image.

It sounds to me from the comments being made that EmsAk620 is using 'Fast Flick' to make the slide show
if that is the case EmsAk620 that is why all sorts of effects and restrictions are being placed on your images - use the full videostudio editor not fast flick for maximum creativity and control.
