Fatal Error During installation Win 8.1

Post by hutch7979 »

Having problems getting a clean install. I purchased Pro X7 a few days ago, and have spent quite a few hours getting this to work without any luck. I insert disc and choose to install 64bit version. EULA screen pops up, check box, hit next. Few seconds later "Please enter your information" screen comes up plus another smaller popup "the serial number is invalid " before i even try to enter any info. I close smaller box out and enter my user name and serial # exactly as its printed on sleeve and click next. Approximately 90 seconds later, "select country/region you are in" screen comes up, along with a "Script Error" screen. FYI I've clicked both yes and no at different times to close screen. I fill in my country and video standard. USA and NTSC. Click "Install Now", another "script error". Click yes to close out script error, and again click "Install Now". Installation starts. After 4-5 minutes icons appear on desktop, around 23%complete. At 66% I get a popup "Data error ( cyclic redundancy check )". I Click OK (only option), install resumes. At 69% another "Data error (cyclic redundancy check ), click ok install resumes. At 99%,
icons disappear (except quicktime). Then Installation Wizard not completed....Fatal Error During Installation.
I have tried installing in safe mode, with antivirus and windows defender off, still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that my DVD drive is bad? Anyway to test it? Also, although brand new, could my install cd be bad? If so, is there an alternative way to download software to install? I spoke with a rep via chat client on corel.com that informed me that my serial# wouldnt work if i installed it within the trial version. I can verify this as before contacting them I tried this method.
