No Blu-ray option in X7
I have a Pioneer Blu-ray drive and I'm using a BD-RE rewritable disk; X7 does not give me the option to write to blu-ray.
It sees my drive as the following: <D> PIONEER BD-RW BDR208D 1.10
Disc type: BD-RE
Anyone know why Videostudio X7 does not recognise that I have a Blu-ray writer?
Many thanks in advance

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
to me there is something missing from your post.
You say VideoStudio recognises your burner - showing you it's make and type number.
You also tell us it recognises the disc you have put in it as a Blu-ray disc
So how do you arrive at the conclusion that VideoStudio is not recognising your drive ?
did you select the Blu-ray option after you clicked 'Share'

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
Thanks for the reply Brian - you're right about there being something missing from my post - I didn't mention that the Blu-ray option wasn't there for me when I clicked share; so I assumed it was because it didn't recognise that I have one? Is that correct?

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
Are you using a trial version - or a full purchased version ?

It was the trial version Brian, but when the 30 days ran out I purchased the Upgrade at £29.40, plus 2 year extended Download at £4.60

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
I understand that Corel have removed the bluray option from the trial possibly to save download time or could be to do with bluray licencing.
When you purchased the full version did you uninstall the trial version - or just install the full version on top of the trial.

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
I didn't at first but have done so now - same result though
Could it be something to do with that? It's really the only reason that I went for the upgrade in the first place so I'm really keen to get it sorted out - I certainly appreciate your efforts to help me on this

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
OK lets see if we can cure the problem by just resetting the programme first
so can you go to :- C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) on your computer - you may have to unhide some folders to see it - and of course yours will not say Brian but the name you use on your computer.
first make sure VideoStudio is closed down
in the folder at the end of my link should be a folder called 17.0 - rename that to '17.0 old'
Restart VideoStudio check for bluray option

Still the same result Brain - and I checked the folder afterwards and it created a new folder called 17.0

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
Sounds as though you need to do a clean re-install - first you need to completely remove all traces of any previous installs from your computer
do that by downloading the zipped attachment to this post - then un-zip it and you should end up with an .exe file.
run that file and it will remove all traces of the trial and your full install.
now install the full version and hopefully you will have the bluray option

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
I was sure that would work Brian, but unfortunately not, same result!
I do have lots of other Videostudios on my PC, could these be affecting things? I have Videostudio 11 still installed and working for example???

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
Hi Guys
We are aware that Corel have changed the installation file sizes for the trial version that now installs without Bluray burning, also removed Smart Sound. That was done as far as we know for trial download sizes.
The purchase versions again as far I we know are the full version, one installation file at 2 Gb. +
Earlier versions did come in two smaller files, one for the program and one to complete the installation by adding additional library content.
In addition for the Ultimate Version a Bonus file would also be provided.
1 / Can you tell us the name and size of your downloaded files.
2 / Did you purchase the Pro or Ultimate versions.
When we run the installation .exe, setup files are extracted and saved to :-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 Setup Files
Please delete these before re-installing.
Also check the folder 17.0 (mentioned by Brian) has also been removed before installation.
C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Brian I don’t think the Cleanup.exe removes this folder, so does not remove personal data.
Video Studio installations, many of us install several versions of video studio without problems.

Re: No Blu-ray option in X7
Thanks Trevor. I tried all you said and still no Blu-ray option.
The version I bought is:
VideoStudio Pro X7 - Upgrade
Faster and easier video-editing software
Download file is: VSX7_Pro_PF_x64_2014-10-03
File size on my PC is: 1,878,804 KB
I uninstalled all other Videostudio products (Videostudio 11), but the upgrade still worked which got me thinking that maybe I needed the full version rather than the upgrade??? Can I upgrade to Pro X7 from Videostudio 11, and if so, why did it let me install even after I removed VS 11?

Now alarm bells are ringing
are you saying that apart from X7 you have no other versions of VideoStudio on your computer
Where did you purchase your copy of VideoStudio X7 from ?
