Changing Working Directory

Post by mrthrun »

I am new to the COREL user board but not new to using them. I own Corel Xara, video editor and PSP.
I am looking for help on utilizing a ramdisk configuration for my PSP mostly and other Corel software eventually. I was told by the ramdisk vendor to contact the software vendor for paint shop pro and ask if you are able to change the working directory.
But, I am hoping there are some experts here that can help me out. :D

Since your post is mainly about PSP, I have shifted it to the PSP forum, where you are likely to get more answers... So welcome!

That was the term the diskram people gave me. I have also heard it called a scratch disk. What I want to do is utilize my ramdisk (scratch disk / working directory) in PSP. Thanks.

I also don't know what you mean by "working directory". Are you familiar with Navigation in Manage mode? That may be what you are looking for. In manage mode go to View/Palettes and select the Navigation. Within that you can add preferred directories to the Collections tab to reduce the directories through which you need to navigate.

You didn't mention which version of PSP you are using. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but with version X4 and forward Corel instituted a "scratch disk" feature. You can access it via File -> Preferences -> General Program Preferences -> Display & Caching. Your options are to enable or disable and select a drive if enabled.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Thanks Kathy, that is exactly what I was looking for. I created a ramdisk using Radeon ramdisk software and I wanted to access it with my PSP X6. I pointed PSP to that drive to see if it is faster than my SDD that my operating software is loaded on.

I have also heard it called a scratch disk.
