AVCHD OR DVD

Post by snowstorm »

Good morning to all

Using VS PROX6 Ultimate

I have a project that consist of approx. 350 JPEG and last approx. 24 min ,also using Transition =crossfade=between photos
50% OF THE jpeg have the following dimension 4896x2752 shot with Panasonic DMC-ZS30
the other 50% the jpeg have the following dimensions 3264X2448 shot with iPhone 5s
I am inserting SmartSound Quicktracks for background music

The project will be burned onto standard DVD(TayoYuden)

Should I expect better result if I were to use AVCHD Format rather than DVD Format (MPEG)
Also while creating video file should I use Frame base

Many thanks for any suggestion

Of course AVCHD will give you better quality then standard mpeg but you will need a BlueRay player to play the AVCHD DVD. Do you have one?

Hi snowstorm

And yes for a slide show use Frame Based rather than interlaced.

Smart Sound
24 minutes of auto music may slow rendering, I assume you will add a few variations.

You may be best in selecting a music/song tunes for your backgrounds.

A 24 minute project burned as an AVCHD hybrid disc should fit onto a single layer DVD using a bitrate of 18 Mbps, which would give you excellent results. If for some reason it doesn't quite fit, just reduce the bitrate to, say, 17 Mbps, and the result should still be excellent. But as canuck has said, you will need a Blu-Ray player to play such a disc.

Thanks to all for your quick replies

Yes I have a BluRay player

Ran the project with AVCHD format ,frame base,18mbps
Project burned on standard DVD (Tayo Yuden)
Changed music selection
Inserted songs rather than auto music
Gave me excellent results
