I want to insert a transition between 2 clips. I have ripple editing enabled to keep titles and subtitles lined up with the clips. When I try to insert a transition I get a message saying "For ripple editing there is not gap to apply a transition".
If I disabled ripple editing then all the titles would be out of alignment.
Is there a way to solve this?

Re: inserting transition when ripple editing
Hi
Ripple editing does just that links the top timeline to the lower tracks.
The error is probably associated with the clips immediately below the transition position maybe the video in the overlay track. Unfortunately we do not see your timeline.
All clips right of the transition position are being moved left, but the adjacent clip is in the way.
Remove the problem clip, (left of transition point) apply the transition, replace the clip, if that’s possible with the remaining space.
The best option is to edit the top track left to right, removing unwanted frames, adding transitions.
Once the top timeline is set there is no need for Ripple Editing, easier said than done.
