Audio Glitch

Post by blue_shadow »

Hello there:
I hope you guys can help me, I'm using Ulead Video Studio 10 and I'm having problems with the audio. It happens everytime I make a 10 minutes or longer video. The audio cuts words in the talking parts when I export.

Using: Video Studio 10
Compression: Mpeg 2 at 100% quality
Video data rate: variable 8000 kbps
Frame Type: frame based
Resolution: 1280 x 720
Audio format: Mpeg audio
Audio Type: stereo
Audio frequency: 48000 hz
Audio bitrate: 224 kbps
In the music track I put WAV files.

I hope someone can tell me how to fix this, thanks a lot :D

My first inclination would be to suggest that you drop below the 100% quality level. Achieving that puts quite a strain on a computer, and to be honest, it does not improve quality all that much above the default 70% or 80% quality. In fact, apart from experimenting with the quality slider, I nowadays leave it at the default setting.

I am also wondering why you chose mpeg layer 2 audio. Why not Dolby?

Thanks for your quick answer, Ken. I tried your suggestion with 70% quality but that didn't solve the problem.
And about the audio, video studio just doesn't let me change the value to dolby.

Ah! I thought that by VS 10 Dolby had become an integral part of VS... or does your version have an SE in its name (a Special Edition cut-down version, which would not have Dolby for licensing fee reasons...)?

In that case, you should try the standard, though larger LPCM option which must surely be there...

I also need to ask if you live in the United States? If so, many American devices are not designed to play mpeg layer 2 audio... Are you only playing the rendered video on your computer or on some other device?

My version of video studio says "Video Studio 10 Plus" and I must say it's pretty awesome. And about the video, I export it without music (just sound) and It runs fine. The problem appears when I put music tracks in it.

The video is just for uploading to youtube.

If your music tracks are mp3, that could be the problem. VS does not like mp3 produced with the LameMP3 codec very much. If you have an audio editor, convert the audio to standard .wav format and use that. A good freeware audio editor is Audacity.

Yes I heard that VS could have problems with mp3 files, so I converted all the music tracks to WAV but it's the same thing.
I tried to export the video and and audio in separate files, then I joined them together, but that doesn't do the trick either.

I already did like 12 videos with VS but this one just wont work :|

Hi

What are the properties or your original video files?

Have you updated VS 10 with the patches provided by Ulead / Corel?

If your editing process worked in the past, what have you changed.
Are you converting to a different format, for Youtube MP4 may be a better option?

View the properties of one of the older videos, are they the same?

Im following the same steps. These are the video properties:

Compression: Mpeg 2 at 100% quality
Video data rate: variable 8000 kbps
Frame Type: frame based
Resolution: 1280 x 720
Audio format: Mpeg audio
Audio Type: stereo
Audio frequency: 48000 hz
Audio bitrate: 224 kbps
In the music track I put WAV files.

I didn't update VS with the patches you mentioned. But I've tried everything else, I even dropped the resolution but it's no use. Everytime I put music in the video, the audio glitch appears again.

In the past I had a desync issue with another video and I manage to solve that. But in this case none of the solutions works.
The problem seems to be with videos longer than 10 minutes. I don't have anymore ideas to solve this :|

Hi blue_shadow

What are you trying to make, a video for the internet or burn a DVD disc?

When you choose Share, what options do you choose ?

I ask as your video uses a 1280 x 720 frame size, which as far as I know is not DVD Mpeg2 compliant., to burn a disc it would have to be 720 x 576 (720 x 480)

Hi

It's for the internet, when I choose share I go to create video file, then custom. I use 1280x720 because in 720 x 480 I notice a slight drop in quality.

As I mentioned, I've made several videos this way but this one is causing problems when I add music tracks. some say that VS may have issues with mp3 files so I converted the music tracks to WAV, but the problem persists. Then I tried another different music file, I've also tried to drop to a 720x480 resolution. But its no use, no matter what I do, the glitches always appear in the final export.

Hi

I have installed VS10, this version was one of the older versions that allowed you to set non-standard properties for Mpeg2, later versions limited that to DVD Compliant Mpeg2. By the way VS 10 can set Compliant DVD Mpeg2 properties and use Digital Dolby.

So yes we can set these Mpeg2 properties to render your video:-

MPEG files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 25 fps
Frame-based
(MPEG-2), 16:9
Video data rate: 8000 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

I have to say they are non-standard and as such may cause quality problems. Yes I realise you have produced good quality, so why not this time?

For the internet have you tried using :-

Windows Media Video 24 bits, 1280 x 720

Windows Media Video
24 bits, 1280 x 720,
Frame-based
44.100 KHz, 16 bits, Stereo
Ulead - WMV HD 720p Standard Quality

Unfortunately VS10 does not support MP4 otherwise that would be the better option.

Other options

Try Share-create Video File – Same as first Video Clip, that’s if that option is available.
