Is there any way to remove background noise from a project? I also have some spikes and sounds that I would like to remove - like a door bell in the background.
All of the above can be accomplished via PowerDirector13 co-habitating with AudioDirector5 but I don't really want to invest in PowerDirector and AudioDirector. Plus I have read the Cyberlink stuff crashes a lot and I can't afford the time lost this week with that potential happening.
Thus, what can I do with VideoStudiox7? Can I export the audio into, maybe Audacity, and clean up the audio that way? However, can the cleaned up audio then be imported back into VSx7? AND, if it can, will it sync back up with the video as it was before it was exported?
Any help / advice will be GREATLY appreciated during this urgent moment of need.

In a word, yes. Go to Share and select 'audio ' to create a new sound file. Open and edit it in Audacity. Can I export the audio into, maybe Audacity, and clean up the audio that way?
Yes, simply insert it in one of the audio tracks and mute the original timeline. As for synching, if you retain the same length, there should be no problem. So don't cut anything out -- just lower its volume to zero. However, can the cleaned up audio then be imported back into VSx7? AND, if it can, will it sync back up with the video as it was before it was exported?
Depending on how much audio you are trying to edit out, though, you could also just do it in VS itself by using the rubber band volume control on the parts where you want to either reduce the audio or lower it to zero if you want to get rid of a particular sound or series of sounds...

Re: Best way to remove background audio noise
Thanks Ken,
Yep, I was aware of rubber banding (which you taught me via this forum) and I feel it is quite effective with the exception of being able to remove a sound that is on top of another sound or vice versa. But, was just wondering about other methods that might work; thus, inspiring this post.
I don't know if you'll answer the following or not but here goes ... do you have any opinion about Cyberlink Power Director compared to VSx7? In your opinion does VSx7 outshine PD as a generally better overall editor with the exception of rendering speed?
AudioDirector5 (trial version) is very cool and more user friendly than Audacity; BUT, a big price tag squelches enthusiasm. I wish Corel had a very similar and very competitive feature.
I'm one of those people that always thinks he has purchased the wrong product. Yet, it does seem as though VS has the more notable marketplace following.
Please comment in an effort to help me with my discerning efforts.

No editing software is "The Best". The best software is the one that you as user, master.
The best software is the one that you know it's weakness but still know how to complete your final edited masterpiece.
Just remember that a pro uses many tools and combine them finely.

Re: Best way to remove background audio noise
asik1,
Thank you. I appreciate your point of view and it represents a very fair and accepted commentary.
I still remain concerned about the many rumors of PowerDirectors' crashing. On the other hand though, like I said in a previous sentence - Cyberlinks AudioDirector5 provides an awesome means by which to use the spectrum frequency view and a 'restoration' feature to remove specific unwanted sounds. Just commenting.

Re: Best way to remove background audio noise
I have PowerDirector 12, not the current 13, and it did not come with the audio editor your mention, so I cannot comment on that. I never used PD much, though, but it seemed to work OK on those occasions I used it, and indeed worked on some video that VS had trouble with.
But on the audio side, Sony's Movie Studio Platinum comes with the excellent (if now superseded) Sound Forge Audio Studio 10. And Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 came bundled with Magix Video Sound Cleaning Lab, which I found truly excellent, and without the learning curve associated with Sound Forge...
EDIT: On checking more closely, it appears PD 12 may have come with another Cyberlink program called Wave Editor 2 -- though I have never used it as I didn't really notice its existence!!
