I have tried three times to create a videofile from my current project. Each time it fails when 97% complete with the message "Corel Videostudio has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found"
Any ideas why this might be happening?

Hi
You don’t give much info to go on….
What have you placed on the timelines at 97%, for instance have you added an instant project as an Ending? Any filters applied? Text boxes?
How long is the project?
What happens if you render the last sections of the project, maybe 25% does that fail?

Re: Videostudio X7 stops working
Sorry foir long delay in replying, but Christmas preparations intervened. I did drop off an extraneous clip that somehow came to be added at the end, and the problem disappeared.

Re: Videostudio X7 stops working
I have a similar issue without finding a resolution:
VideoStudio Pro X7 64bit Ultimate - downloaded. I believe SP1 is installed however attempts to install SP1 result in a repeat "Cannot determine the version..." so I cannot determine if SP1 is installed or not.
Dell T5500 Workstation. W7 64bit, 8GB RAM, 1.720 GB HDD (C = .720 RAID 0, D = 1TB), Application is installed on C drive and project/ project files are on drive D, ATI FireGL 3400 video card.
I have searched the forum several times for help with the following without finding a successful resolution:
Application "hangs" at 35% when attempting to create a DVD from a project > 1 hour in length- Waited over 24 hours without movement from 35%.
Application "hangs" at 9x% when attempting to create a DVD with a single, short duration AVI or other video file - Waited over 12 hours without movement from 9x% (I think it was 95% complete).
My videos in the larger project (>1 hour in length) are a combination of MP4 video files from a Sanyo Xacti video camera that have successfully rendered in other video project applications, JPG images and MP3s. The smaller test projects were done using a single AVI file or single MP4 from the Xacti. In an attempt to resolve the issue I downloaded and installed a CODEC pack (www.windows7codecs.com) - no help. No success with any project of any length with regard to burning a DVD. I have been able to create movie files on my computer with smaller projects but I need to burn a DVD.
I tried converting short duration MP4 Xacti files to (if I recall correctly) AVI and MP4 using Microsoft Movie Maker, adding them to a test project (<10 minutes in length) and attempting to burn to DVD without success. "Hangs" around 95% and will not complete.
I need help on this. I'm inclined to uninstall the application due to aggravation but to what end? I've given away money and I feel this could be a fun and useful application. I would really like to be able to share my video.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Videostudio X7 stops working
I used to have lots of problems with earlier versions but this is the first time I encountered such a problem with Version 7. The earlier advice from Corel (when you could get such advice) was always to reload the software and this did often help. I have always had a lot of fun with the software and am not really the person to help because I do not have the detailed expertise needed. Perhaps someone else will come up with a solution for you.

Re: Videostudio X7 stops working
Hi
And welcome to the forums
First:-
That message is Corels strange way of telling us that the SP1 has already been installed
Your Share options.
Do not go to the Disc option but use “Create a video that you can play on your computer”, will render the project to a new video file, if you wish to burn a disc then first render to the Mpeg2 options.
OK
It may be a codec issue so try each video type to render, see if any fail.
The audio MP3 has caused problems using the Lame codec.
Try converting your audio to use Wav.
If the render fails at 35%, then what is in the timeline at that point?

Re: Videostudio X7 stops working
Having same issue as the OP; first 96% (crashed) then 99% (crashed).
Haven't seen this problem for quite a while and I go back a ways to the old Ulead days. I am using VS 7 Ultimate, by the way. I have removed parts, changed the ending, anything that seems to occur right at the point of the crash, to no avail. If anyone comes up with an answer, I would love to share in it. Still love VS better than other editing software I have used.
I thought we were old friends by now. Hopeful for a solution with all the holiday video I would love to share in the New Year. Happy Holidays to all!
