Hi guys,
I have 1-hour video from which I have split into about 8 short videos. I'd like to render each one individually.
In the SHARE tab, I see that I can manually move the orange trim markers in the SHARE preview window, so that only the portion of the video that I want to render is "selected" (has the white bar under it).
Question...
is there a way to select the short video in EDIT, so that when I change tabs to SHARE, that smaller portion is automatically pre-selected for rendering?
Thanks...

Moving from EDIT to SHARE, render ONLY the selected clip?

You didn't really need to split the video up first - you can still render short clips from a long video but even if you have cut them as long as they are all still in the timeline then the following will work - it is my answer in a previous topic on the same subject,
Open the project complete in your timeline.
Look under the preview window to a white line with an orange 'finger' under each end.
hover your mouse cursor over the right hand end 'finger' and it will change to a two headed arrow - left click and slide left.
you will notice the timeline cursor is moving and an orange line appears above the timeline - keep moving left until you reach the point at which you want the first section to end.
You can confirm you have the correct portion by playing your project - it will only play the bit with the orange line over it and stop when the line stops.
Now go to "Share >> Create VIDEO file" (PC monitor icon) and choose the format you want to render to
NOW here is the important bit - look down towards the bottom of the share window and make sure to click to put a dot in the "Create Preview range only" button
Click on "Start" and Videostudio will render a video containing only the bit selected.
When it completes go back to the timeline and move the right hand orange finger to where the second bit is to end - - but now also move the left one to where the second one is to start (not necessarily where the first one ended - up to you)
Now go to Share etc again and go through the process as before but this time edit your video title to "Part Two" (or whatever)
keep repeating that process for as many bits as you want creating a new video each time.
When finished remember to move the orange 'fingers' out to the ends of their line again - or else you will confuse yourself next time - many do.

Re: Moving from EDIT to SHARE, render ONLY the selected clip
Brian,
Thanks for that.
OK...since I didn't need to break up the original video (well, it WAS already broken up to some extent as it was made up of 4 or 5 files), is there a way to re-join adjoining clips in the timeline?

If your render the project as a whole with all "splits" still on the timeline, the result will be a continuous video - no need to "rejoin".

Re: Moving from EDIT to SHARE, render ONLY the selected clip
Thanks....
But I'd like to be able to re-join clips so that I can edit them as one.
I have part of a performance in one clip, and the rest of that same performance in another clip (that's the way the camera split the files because of file size (GoPro))...I'd like to be able to edit that performance all at once, instead of twice, once for each clip.
So I have to render it first, and then re-insert it on the timeline? Seems like a heck of a long work-around?

Just add the clips to the timeline - there is no need to join the clips for editing.

It does not matter that they are split - just put them all in the timeline one after the other - the operation I outlined above will still work
