Video Final Output

Post by Sulgit »

I Previously used Ulead Videostudio 11.5 and produced a video, which amounted to about 4.3 gb in size. I've upgraded to Videostudio X7 Pro, and when I load the same files and attempt to burn in a DVD format, it totals to about 5.3 gb. Was there a change in compression technology that won't allow the original smaller size. The obvious problem is that is won't fit onto a 4.7 disc.
Thanks for any input.

What bitrate did you use in the original project and what bitrate are you using now? I ask since a higher bitrate will generate larger files. It will depend on how long the project is in time -- if it is more than an hour or so long, then you would need to lower the bitrate below the default 8000 kbps to generate a smaller file. If the project is, say, 90 minutes long, then a bitrate of 6000 kbps would still produce a good quality DVD, and using Dolby audio would allow a further 10 minutes or so of video to be burned. If the project is two hours long, then you'd have to use a bitrate of around 4000 kbps, but the quality would only be like that of a VHS tape.
