PSP X3 won't open

I have just got a new desktop computer (Windows 8.1) and installed PSP X3 but it won't open. It either comes up with a message saying it needs to close or it doesn't open at all. I have it (successfully) running on my laptop which also has Windows 8.1). Any thoughts?

Did you install all the patches needed for PSPX3?

Yes, I did install all the patches to PSP X3. However, I have decided to upgrade to PSP X7 and VideoStudio X7 so all is fine now.
