Analog Capture at 200 frames/sec? WhY?
Hi, I am a newbie but I am trying to capture from VHS tapes to the computer using a usb device (Dazzle DVC 80) and composite cables from the VCR to the device. Everytime I capture some of the video, it plays back at around 150-200 frames. I have tried all kinds of settings and don't know know what's going on. I tried changing the codecs and the file types to capture to and nothing. Can anybody help out on how to capture at regular 30 frames/sec?

That's an unheard-of framerate -- what program do you use to capture? Can you display the media clip properties in UVS, copy them to the clipboard, and paste them in this thread? You may also want to download GSpot and have it verify the file properties to make sure the header information matches the contents.

I am using UVS SE 7 to capture the video. Here is the copy of the properties:

The root cause is the wrong framerate information. Because the header tells UVS (and Windows Media Player for that matter) that ~200 frames make up one second of video, these programs rip through the file in no time during playback, probably dropping frames to keep up with the indicated framerate.
So the question is, why is the header wrong? I would try selecting a different codec, and possibly a different capture plugin. Is this a brand-new installation of UVS, or were you able to use it successfully in the past? Have you applied the V7.01 patch from HERE?

Danny,
I remember seeing lots of complaints about Dazzle capture boxes at www.VideoHelp.com. Do a search at this web site for possible info about your bizarre problem.
John
PS: I just did a search on the Dazzle DVC 80 and saw a rather long list of user complaints and rather unflattering comments about this device... Looks like you might want to exchange it for something better.
