PSPX7 - No scanner found
I had no problem with my Epson BX525WD printer/scanner under PSPX4. Just installed PSPX7 64 bit and I get a message 'No scanner found'. What am I doing wrong?

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
Yes. It prints OK but it doesn't scan. Thanks for your interest. Reported my problem to Corel, if I get a solution, I'll post it!

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
For the most part it's pretty well agreed here on the forums that PSP is not able to access 64-bit TWAIN so even if the drivers were 64-bit PSP still would not be able to read them.
Since I don't have a scanner with 64-bit drivers I cannot say if this was ever fixed with X7.
It should be noted, however, that there is a difference between 64-bit drivers and 64-bit compatible drivers. 64-bit compatible drivers will run on a 64-bit system, but 64-bit software will not be able to see and run them. You need the 32-bit software to see those drivers still. Printing is done with Windows as an intermediary. Printing with 64-bit has not been an issue as far as I'm aware. So the fact that printing is fine means very little.
Again, all of this is kind of moot since PSP does not seem to be capable of seeing the drivers anyway.
If you're interested VueScan, while it does cost money, can hook up to almost any scanner. And it comes with a plugin that you can run inside of 64-bit PSP that will access your scanner for you. So no need to be concerned with what kind of drivers you have.

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
I have had a reply from the Corel helpline which is a very acceptable workaround and totally resolves the problem.
"Most scanners, such as your Epson BX525WD, uses a 32-bit TWAIN driver which can be detected by only the PaintShop Pro X7 32-bit. If you only have the PaintShop Pro X7 64-bit version installed on the computer, then please uninstall the program, run the installer again and choose to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the software. This way, if you need to scan from your scanner, then you can do it through the 32-bit version then you can continue editing in the 64-bit version."
Thanks for your interest and help.

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
Actually I don't believe Vuescan has a 64 bit twain driver. And even if it did it doesn't have 64 bit support for all scanners, so not all scanners can use the 64 bit version of Vuescan. But as we've seen here using the 32 bit version works nicely.
Regards, Dan

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
I just wanted to give all of you a huge, "Thank You"! I just switched one of my printers over to Wi-Fi which resulted in my spending the past 3 days fighting this issue. Your suggestion works great.
Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
Hamrick did reply with a solution that was included by someone. Basically you setup up 64 bit Vuescan to call 64 Bit Corel. After years of using both and getting tired of how it opens and closes vuescan all the time, this is a much slicker way to do it. I think Hamrick probably told me about that years ago but I got lazy along the way. Since I installed a new printer and now have two scanners that was a pain too. Just updated to X7 today and am glad I found the post. Just scan in vuescan and it opens the image in 64 bit Corel, no need to do anything with Corel first.

Re: PSPX7 - No scanner found
at Canon scanner 9000F mark II there is only one way. Used another program for scanning. PHP X7 can't scan with the Canon
I used the 32 bit but PHP X7 crashed. The X5 no problems.
I used the Irfan Viewer and then copy/past to PHP X7. Canon scanner works perfect with Irfan Corel has a problem not Canon.
