PSP X7
I like Color Efex 3.0 that I have in PSP X4. If I buy X7, and do all I need to do with a photo there, can't I just save the file, then open X4 and use one of the "Color Efex" effects from there? Thanks

Re: PSP X7
Corel has changed the path to the Plugins folder between X4 and X7
They are in XP (should be similar for Win 7)
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\PlugIns
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X7\PlugIns\EN
I copied my Nik Software folder from X4 to X7 and they work quite well there in the few that I tried.
So yes you should be able to use the plugins .
I tried directing in Preferences File Locations to the X4 one and no go.
In addition you can have two versions of PSP open eg X4 and X6 . Open an image in X6 do some processing there, then drag the layer thumbnail down over the taskbar tab for X4 and when it takes over drop the image directly on the X4 workspace and process in X4, then drag the layer thumbnail over the task bar tab for X6 and again drop it into that workspace. Each time it gets a new Image number.
This does not work with X7 at present because they have broken the drag and drop feature.
This works even as far back as PSP8. So if a feature you want is present only in one of the older versions, you can still access that via this method.
Another alternaive would be to save it as a .pspfile (so you don't lose image quality) and then reopen in the other proram. An additional advantage would be that it would preserve layers although you would have to save it as a version compatible to older versions.

Re: PSP X7
Thanks a lot for the info. X4 works great for me, but I figure it might be time to upgrade since it does much more. I'll use your suggestions! Thanks
