Hi

X5 and X7 should run ok , no need to uninstall X5.
By re-install I was referring to X7.

Projects from X5 (vsp’s) should work with X7, I would not have thought they would affect Undo, although I have never tried.

I have X6 installed and will create a project with that and then run using X7.
But don’t expect that to affect things, but you never know?

If you create a new project using X7, does the Undo work ok or the same as opening x5 projects.?

Ok
Lets see how a re-install affects things

Everything works for me, the only time Undo resets is when opening a project.
It should work for you

You do not need to uninstall any previous version when installing VS X7. I did not see any option to uninstall previous versions when installing X7.

I just tried what you are attempting to do and like Lata, the Undo works just fine.

i did the reinstall and on one test file, the undo function is back! hopefully it stays this way. thanks for the help.

when i did the reinstall, i did receive several pop up error messages though...

"a later version of apple application support is already installed on this computer"

and

"newer version of quicktime is installed. installation cannot proceed while the newer version of quicktime is installed."

it appears as though the program is working fine, however, i'm thinking i may need to uninstall quicktime and reinstall x7 to be safe?

on a totally separate topic...in x5, in the video tab under options there used to be a "take a snapshot" button, but it is no longer there in x7 and only located under the edit menu. is there a way to make that function more accessible or possibly a keyboard shortcut function?

Hi

Good news that the Undo is working ok

Ignore the Quicktime, no need to install the earlier version, X7 should work ok.

Take a snapshot, I think that has been raised before , no idea why they removed that.

Maybe make a comment on the X8 wishlist.

But no way to change that using X7, at least I don’t know of a way sorry

Hi

Quick note on Snapshot

Using Edit We can take a Snapshot in Project or Clip mode

If we use Project mode the image will display as you see in the preview screen, it will use the project properties aspect ratio to create the dimensions. that image will fit exactly to the project.

if we use Clip mode the image is taken from the actual file and uses the files dimensions/ resolution, Using Standard Definition 16:9 Video then that image will use 720 x 576 for Pal (720 x 480 ntsc) clearly not 16:9 ratio.
The image will be distorted and not fit the project 16:9 shape

There may be no problems in editing most High Deffinition as they use true 16:9 1920 x 1080
however 1440 x 1080 HD will again cause the distortion when Clip SnapShot is used.

VS X5 -- The Snapshot icon from the Options Panel (below the Library) uses Clip playback and that may distort the image, I guess thats the reason for dropping the Snapshot Icon.

Unfortunately, this issue is back. I have tried the uninstall/reinstall trick a couple times and now it isn't resolving this issue. At this point, I'd just as soon go back to the x5 version, however, I have really begun to use and like the variable speed function in x7 and this is not available in x5. Wondering if anyone else might have a thought on what may be causing this issue??

Wonder if Corel would allow me to download x6 in the place of x7?

BTW, I have installed x7 on two different computers and this issue is now occurring on both of them.

Hi

It may be the editing effects you are adding that is influencing the Undo.

Can you do a screen capture of your edits showing the process you use that causes the Undo problem.
Then upload the WMV to a sharing site, One Drive from Microsoft Outlook is as good as any

We will then be able to see exactly what you are doing.

As I say I have tried many times to replicate this…….

Below is the input I received from Corel Support. For some reason, I cannot get the patch to install as I get the following error message "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate." I also renamed the 17.0 folder and that didn't help either. I even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it to no avail.

-----------------------------------------------

I am writing to advise you to visit the following link and update your copy of VideoStduio Pro X7 as we have available service pack that could potentially resolve the issue in your program:

Go to http://corel.com/patches to download the update for the program

Please also try to restore the program into its factory default to rebuild the cache file the next time you use the software.

Please follow the instructions below in resetting the program to the factory defaults:

1. Click on Start.
2. Click in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu.
3. Type in: %APPDATA% and press the enter key.
4. In the new window, find the Ulead Systems folder.
5. Open the Ulead Systems folder.
6. Open the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder.
7. There should be a folder named 17.0 here.
8. Rename 17.0 to 17.0_old.
9. Launch VideoStudio Pro X7.

No problem with that message, it is Corel's strange way in informing us that the Patch is already installed.

I think but not 100% sure that the patch has been included with the latest installation files, if that is the case then you would not need the Update Patch.

Your programs Version number will include a "1" as Version 17.1.0.22, the "1" indicates SP1 has been installed.

i probably shouldn't jinx myself, but it has been working fine for the past 2 days. the only thing i'm doing different now is that i'm NOT changing any of the information in the Project Properties, i'm leaving them as the default settings. we'll see if this continues to do the trick? fingers crossed.

Hi twelvexes

Its good that you seem to have sorted the Undo issue……….
At what point are you changing the Project Properties?

Anytime you edit the Project Properties (Alt+ Enter) will reset the Undo option.
You are effectively starting a project as far as the Undo is concerned.

I do not think you mentioned project properties in your original posts.

Ok

Maybe you did Share – Same as Project Settings, then decided to modify the properties to change the render settings.
So yes that would reset the undo, giving you the problem in your original post.
