Music out of sync when playing back
I am trying to make a fan video using the trial version of VideoStudio X7, using music and clips from the show. Obviously, I want the edited clips to be in time with the music. When I'm editing down the clips to make them fit, I usually move the scrubber to a position just before the clip, as I don't want to have to watch the whole video again every time I want to check a single clip is in the right place.
The problem is, I've found that once I've got past around the 30 second mark there is a noticeable different in how the music matched the clips when I play back a short section, and when I play back from the beginning. For example, I've arranged a clip so that a chord in the music plays just after the clips starts, but when I play it back from the beginning the chord obviously plays just before the clip starts.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this, or any possible workarounds?

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
Are you using ripple edit lock to keep the tracks in sync?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
Have you added ant transitions to the video track?
Or removed any transitions after setting the audio clips position?

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
No, but neither the music track nor the clips are being moved between me playing it back from a position a few seconds before, and me playing it back from the start.Terfyn wrote:Are you using ripple edit lock to keep the tracks in sync?
There in one fade to black transition at the start, but the music track has been deleted and replaced several times since I added it.lata wrote:Have you added ant transitions to the video track?

You wrote "For example, I've arranged a clip so that a chord in the music plays just after the clips starts,..."
Did you do this by listening, or using the waveform?

Hi
I don’t think we will understand what is happening here, you seem to have two separate clips, a video and audio, can you give more details of those clips.
Right click each clip in the timeline and choose properties, what are they?
You can copy and paste the window to an Image editor, create a Jpeg and attach to your post.
Even so I don’t think it will give any clues as to why?
You may be best to provide a sample in the way of a Smart Package, then upload to a sharing site, DropBox , One Drive have been used.
If the clips are very long, (how long are they) then the files may be to large to upload.
Certainly a sample would help.

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
By listening, I find that the waveform doesn't show the chords in the music once the singing starts, and I want the changing clips to match the beat.erdna wrote:You wrote "For example, I've arranged a clip so that a chord in the music plays just after the clips starts,..."

I have 181 clips from a TV show, which I am gradually editing down as I choose the ones I want to use. They are all in the same format, with variable data rate. I am also using split audio from some of the clips, and a music track. I've attached the details. I have one transition at the start, and I have cropped the first three clips slightly.lata wrote:Hi

What do you mean by providing a sample?

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
Hi
You are using M4V type video, the frame size looks a little unusual at 720 x 590, I would have expected 720 x 576, given that the frame rate is 25fps Pal
You are editing the video and adding a music track, I assume there is no problems with sync there.
If you are having problems using MP3 audio, convert your audio files to “wav” and use those.
You say you Split Audio, why do you need to split audio?
Is it using Split Audio that is causing the sync issues.?
By Sample, I mean creating a Smart Package of your project, zip the file and upload to DropBox or One Drive so we can download and see exactly what you are doing.
Obviously large files means long downloads.

Re: Music out of sync when playing back
The first episode I put in had some problems with the aspect ratio and frame size. The project settings are at 720x576, as are most of the clips, and I set those that weren't at that ratio to fit project size.lata wrote:Hi

I'll try a different file type for the song, thanks for the suggestion.
Split audio as in, I split some of the audio from the clips and rearranged it so it doesn't have to play at the same time as the clip it was attached to.
