It looks like "Microsoft Fix It DVD" (can Google it) has fixed the "No Burner Exists" problem. I'm still testing but so far it looks good. Wanted to pass this on asap because the archives show some others have had this problem.
Also I wanted to respond on the ImgBurn issue - it does indeed include a lot of 'malware' as a google on 'imgburn malware' will reveal. It's interesting because formerly Malwarebytes classified this stuff as Malware. Now it classifies it as "Not Malware"(?!) but still quarantines it immediately and asks you to reboot the computer to remove all traces. Clearly the people who make their money from this 'OpenCandy' have been leaning heavily on the likes of Malwarebytes. It's not malware that damages a computer but it installs 'bots' that invisibly transmit personal details into the ether. I understand it's possible to install ImgBurn and bypass the 'OpenCandy' but it was certainly not possible the two times I downloaded it. In fact just the download file (without installing it) caused Malwarebytes to quarantine it immediately and reboot the computer.
I'd recommend anyone using ImgBurn to do a free Malwarebytes scan in case personal data is being invisibly transmitted.
"If you had 100's of malware instances then your system must be in very bad shape. IMGburn does not install any malware..."
Incorrect on both counts: the system was a brand new Dell Precision T3610 Workstation which is kept pristine with Malwarebytes. The Malware resulted _solely_ from the installation of ImgBurn.
Thanks
Philip

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Hi Philip
I will uninstall my version of ImgBurn and re install to clarify for myself just what does install.
I have McAffee anti virus and is very particular to what I download, I am sure it did not target Img Burn
Give me a couple of minutes and I will report back.
Oh, glad you seem to have cured the problem, did Microsoft Fix actually say what the problem was.???

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Hi Philip
For Img Burn try this download page:-
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
I used Mirror 7
Other download links caused my McAfee to have a fit.
This is 2.5.8.0 version.
Installing was ok provided I use the Custom options to de-select the Search Providers, I think only two options were disabled.

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
IMGburn does not install any malware if you install it correctly. I have installed it numerous times and have never once had any malware indicated by malwarebytes which I run after every install of a program as well as other times during a week.
I always use the IMGburn website to download. Other sites may well add all sorts of malware.

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
After being away from video activity for nearly a year, I returned a few days ago and encountered the "No Burner Exists" effect using X6. Don't remember if I was using X6 last time I burned a disk so long ago. After a few swear words, I tried using X5, which is still on my computer (as is X4), and followed my usual, and the recommended procedure of going to "Create Disk" with an empty timeline, and adding the video file which I had previously generated in X6.
Burned a DVD with no problem so it seems that this is a specifically X6 issue.
For an experiment I also burned a DVD with no problem, using the trial version of MovieFactory that was issued with a previous VS version (X3) which had a rubbish disk creator.

Just tried the "Mr Fixit" and it didn't solve the problem, told me there wasn't a problem.

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
I just checked burning operation again and successfully burnt a DL Blu-Ray DVD, about 47Gb. No problems, took a long time of course, but perfect result. So the Microsoft "FixIt" worked for me, not sure why it doesn't always work. Also for me it said "no problem found" but I think that it worked just by 'touching' the driver setup and making some basic corrections automatically - probably a locked registry value - it's not a very informative app. So for me personally, the "No Burner Exists" problem has been solved - thanks very much indeed for all the help.
I'll be back shortly under a different topic because I need to solve another problem on which I've previously posted, but with no solution so far.
Thanks, Philip
