VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
So I have suddenly started getting this error too... Have burnt all manner of discs in the past months, DVD, DVD DL, Blu-Ray... Now, suddenly, this is my reward at the culmination of a solid week of work. Total belly up. So I have completely re-installed VS Pro (a hugely time consuming process, as a result of which all the extremely irritating splash screens have returned), I have disconnected ALL external USB drives, rebooted the computer twice over. I'm completely at a loss.
My only option, since this is an _urgent_ project, was to resurrect an old Windows XP computer which fortunately had VS Pro already installed, and this is currently burning the project to DVD.
This problem seriously needs looking at, WHAT ON EARTH CAUSES IT?
Thanks
Philip

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Almost certainly a conflict with another programme which has taken possession of you DVD drive - programmes like Roxio and Cyberlink can do it - what other programmes do you have which regularly use the DVD drive
there is also a little programme which can appear on your computer called "Browser select" or similar which can control your peripherals

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Thanks Brian,
I do have Cyberlink installed, which I use for copying from one DVD to another. I also use Windows Media but only for playing DVDs. There's nothing else on the system as far as I'm aware (no Roxio). The only thing I can find to do with "Browser Select" is for selecting web browsers. I have also searched under "access management" and the solution there is to uninstall the DVD driver and re-install it but I'm a bit reluctant to go that far. If there is a program for controlling peripherals I'd really like to know.
At the moment I'm still stuck, VS Pro is still saying that No Burner Exists and I am having to burn DVDs using my old Windows XP machine (which is taking a VERY long time). A thought occurs: if Cyberlink is able to grab a DVD drive, then surely VS Pro can do the opposite action and release it? I do think there should be a solution too this problem - in the meantime my workstation remains completely incapacitated for its intended purpose, though both DVD drives continue to work perfectly with other software. Unfortunately this is extremely frustrating - I'm still searching for a solution.
Thanks
Philip

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Hi Philip
As a workround, have you tried using VS to create a Disc Image File -- ISO file rather than a disc.
Then use Windows Disc Image burner to burn the disc from the ISO
If that program cannot see the disc drive then it is certainly something on the pc not VS.

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Thanks Trevor, I am trying this now - I notice that you have to have "Create DVD Folders" as well as "Create ISO Image" otherwise it still reverts to "No Burner Exists". Even so, I will not be able to create a Blu-Ray DVD - VS Pro doesn't allow for creation of an ISO image in this case (another problem I've encountered).
I am wondering if I will have to uninstall Cyberlink in order to get VS Pro to burn DVDs. But I will have to install it back immediately in order to make copies of the DVD (:-/)
There are actually a lot of problems that keep tripping people up with VS Pro - I wonder if we can't get hold of Corel and ask if they would kindly sort out some of these problems? I've just wasted a whole day on this one problem alone....
Thanks
Philip

Not sure why you have to have Cyberlink to copy DVD's - doesn't the standard Windows "Copy Disc" work for you

You can create a Blu-Ray folder and burn it with a third party program. The freeware ImgBurn does a good job, as does Nero, Roxio, Ashampoo Burning Studio to name a few commercial ones...

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
That should not be necessary, I have CyberLink Power2Go installed and use it for burning to DVD most of my projects, there is nothing wrong with the VS burner, I just find that Power2Go being a dedicated burner is faster and more flexiblepgp566 wrote:

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Thanks, I didn't know that standard Windows could copy from one DVD drive to another but I'll give it a try.
"You can create a Blu-Ray folder and burn it with a third party program"
Thanks but will the third party program render my VSP files to Blu-Ray format?
"The freeware ImgBurn does a good job, as does Nero, Roxio, Ashampoo Burning Studio to name a few commercial ones..."
I did try ImgBurn but then spent half a day getting rid of all the Malware - literally hundreds of instances - even with Malwarebytes it took two or three repeat scans to get rid of it all.
As for the commercial ones, well yes, except that I already put my money down on VideoStudio and all my project files are in VSP format. Or did I make a wrong choice?
Having wasted a whole day on the "No Burner Exists" problem (when clearly the Burner _does_ exist), still without resolution, I am not in especially good frame of mind to go out experimentally spending further monies on things to see if they work, when actually it is VS Pro that should have worked - I have already spent good money on that.
Thanks

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
If you had 100's of malware instances then your system must be in very bad shape. IMGburn does not install any malware - any extras that are installed are because you opted to have them installed. The install always asks if you allow it to install.
There is no such thing as a VSP format. Any file that has the extension vsp is simply a project file containing the resources used in your project, any edits to be made etc. It is not a video file.
You create the BlueRay folder using VS and then use the 3rd party program to burn the folder to a disc. The 3rd part program does not do any rendering (that was done by VS) but only does the burn.

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
No -- only VS can handle VSP files. But you can still render out the VSP file in VS to a new video in the format you want; or "burn" a folder in the burning module. Third party programs can certainly burn the new Blu-Ray file to a disc just as some of them can burn a Blu-Ray folder together with its menu. Thanks but will the third party program render my VSP files to Blu-Ray format?
You are the first person I have every heard complain about malware associated with ImgBurn... Several of us here have used it -- in my case for years -- without any problems whatsoever...

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Hi
We mentioned other programs taking control of the DVD drives, one such program was Nero’s InCd I think it was called.
Not sure if that was mentioned?
You don’t by any chance have that installed.
A little confused as to what you are trying to burn.
I thought a standard DVD but seems you have a Bluray burner
Just to clear my mind, how many CD DVD drives do you have installed?

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Thanks Trevor,
I have two drives on the workstation, one a standard DVD and the other a Blu-Ray (which of course can play/burn everything below including CD).
"No Burner Exists" remains extant. I have solved it for standard DVD by using Windows to burn from the ISO file. The problem remains of creating a Blu-Ray DVD (and it's becoming urgent). VS Pro X6 will NOT create a Blu-Ray ISO file, only Blu-Ray folders, from which I cannot burn a Bu-Ray DVD. For this, I need to solve the "No Burner Exists" problem urgently....
I do not have Nero or Roxio on the system, only Cyberlink, so my guess is that Cyberlink is locking the DVD drives. My next step is to uninstall Cyberlink to see if that will solve the problem. Even with Cyberlink uninstalled, I am wondering if I will have to tweak the Registry to bring the drives back into use (for VS Pro, they work fine with all other apps).
Thanks
Philip

NO programme will create an ISO file for a blu-ray disc ---- there is no such thing as an ISO file for a blu-ray disc.
You use VideoStudio to create blu-ray folders then use Windows to simply copy those folders to a blu-ray disc in your blu-ray burner

Re: VS Pro X6 "No Burner Exists"
Hi Philip
ImgBurn will burn a Bluray Folder to disc.
I use that option when burning/creating my Bluray discs.
I Create a Bluray Folder allowing me to play to check quality.
I then use ImgBurn to burn the disc using the BDMV Folder
As for Malware there was a nasty one called Browser Protect, installed without our knowledge. Now that affected Windows Auto Updates, not sure what else it affected, but a bad bit of stuff.
Check your Programs and features for odd programs, Browser Search or Browser Conduits, Search Protect or similar names.
Image Burn will install ok provided you deselect the extra options, Browser tool bars etc.
It did install without problems for me.
I find the program itself relatively easy to use, it does a good job.
