Maximum buttons per menu

Post by DaddyCool »

I am currently using DVD Worshop SE, which has a limmit of 40 buttons per menu. The project I am currently working on will need about 100. I am thinking about upgrading to the full version, but need to know what the limit (if any) is for the number of buttons per menu.

Did it actually work with 40 :?:

The limit should be 36 per 4:3 menu -- and it will be the same in the Full version as well.

The 40 includes the 4 navigation buttons, so you are right about 36. The message I got when trying to add more was this version has a limit of 40 buttons per menu, which is why I thought the full version may have a greater limit.

Have you checked to see if the full version is the same? because if it is, it would be pointless me wasting my money buying it. I'll need to look for another program.

36 is the DVD spec limit (I'm not sure how they handle the 4 navigational buttons, and allow you to go to 40).

If you find another package that allows more than 36 buttons per single menu, please post the package here...

Thanks George. It looks like I have to resort to multi menu pages then, something I was hoping to avoid.

At least I haven't wasted my money.

Actually, 100 items on a single menu would be difficult to use. If there is text, it would be too small/distorted to read (on my low-def TV. :( ) If you want to squeeze lots of stuff on one page, I suggest you experiment with an DVD R/W first!

Most of my menus are text, and I typically have about 10 items per menu page (But, I never had 100 items total). Plus, each menu has a NEXT and BACK button.

A couple of other points...

- You can add chapters without linking them to a menu. The >>| and |<< buttons on your remote can be used to jump between chapters. I've done this when copying VHS movies to DVD. Sometimes I don't make a menu at all, but I'll add a chapter-point every 5 or 10 minutes so that the viewer (usually me :) ) can make use of the |<< and >>| keys.

- The DVD spec allows up to 99 titles (clips or movies). Each title can have up to 99 chapters.
