Hi

I think we should ignore the 1280 x 720 Mpg video file.
I have tried lots of options and cannot create those settings? Besides not being suitable to burn a disc.

Ok

A comment you made regarding images (loosing shape) prompts me to ask…
Go to Settings – Is Enable Widescreen 16 :9 enabled

This sets the project properties to use 16:9 which is the aspect of your MTS video files.

I do not want to diminish in any way the excellent responses to my original question, however, purely by chance I have found how to output the properties in question which is gratifying as “about this at least” it may be that I’m not losing it.
As you chaps have pointed out similar results are available by creating a file via “upload to web” and “MPEG-4” however they seem to be restricted to a 5000 kbps video bit rate.
It seems that the options have to be chosen in a specific order to get the frame size options to offer anything above 720x576 and allow the higher bit rates. This is how I did it.....
Select “share”
Select “create video file”
Select “custom”
Select “MPEG-4 files (Mp4)
Select “Options”
Note frame size options are 128x96 to 720x576
Select “Compression”
Select “Video type”>>> choose H-264 Main
Select “General”
Select “Frame size”
Note frame size options are now 320x240 to 1920x1080
Select “Compression”
Select “Video data rate”>>> choose 5000/10000 or ?
Select “Audio frequency”>>>choose 48,000 or ?
Select “General”
Select “frame rate” choose/confirm 30fps or ?
OK and proceed to save.

Hi

and best wishes for the New Year

Your original query related to using mpeg2, it was that format that caused the confusion in frame rate.

Yes using Mpeg4 is a much better format for YouTube.

The Upload to Web option does use Mpeg4 at 5000kbps which should be a reasonable/ good quality.
You can of course use Settings – Make Movie Templates Manager to create your own template, that will allow 20000kbps max.
I am not sure if increasing the data rate to that will improve the quality, maybe a few tests are required?

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 30 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 20000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Hi Trevor,

Again thanks for the help. All I have to do now is figure out a way to remember the details the next time I need it.
Shortcuts to sites like this are a big help.

Hope 2015 is good to you and yours,

Daryl. Here is a link to all my unlisted Oral History videos. Only interesting if you have a taste for that sort of thing.

Hi

When you use Tools – Make Movie Templates Manager the process is similar to using the Custom option in addition we give the template a meaningful name.
The template is always available to use from the Share Create Video File – adjacent to the Custom option,
so you can re-use the template.
