Hello,
I've been teaching myself photography and editing.I'm currently using PaintShop Pro x7 to edit my photos. My workflow is as follows:
1) Open RAW file in Paintshop pro x7
2) Sometimes I will use the RAW tools to adjust the Shadows and brightness to get the graph in the histogram to each side. But usually I leave the settings alone and hit Edit. Then I use "Perfectly Clear" to adjust the photo for me
3) Lastly I will use PaintShop at this point for touch ups, layers, and additional plug ins to add effects
I know PaintShop is more of an editor, and After Shot more of a RAW tool. But I'm curious to know if After shot is something I should consider also? Should I be using it in addition? Or at this level of my skills I don't need it? What can it do that I'm missing out on? What can it do above and beyond the RAW tool in Paintshop pro that makes me want to get this?
Thanks for any input!
After Shot Pro 2 - necessary if I have PaintShop Pro x7?

AfterShot Pro 2 allows you to quickly batch process images. So, if you have lots of changes for similar images, you can save much PP time by using the batch processing.
Also, if you want to catalog your images, AfterShot Pro 2 can do that too. Plus, you can add plug-in's to do some additional things ASP 2 can't do or does not do very well.
Download the trial for 30 days and see for yourself if it is something you feel you could use to aid in your PP needs.

Re: After Shot Pro 2 - necessary if I have PaintShop Pro x7?
Coming at this question from the opposite direction: I have purchased AfterShot Pro and it appears to handle my editing requirements and cataloging. Is there any benefit to also purchasing PaintShop Pro given I have a $30 discount? I see that I can call PaintShop Pro from within AfterShot and do some advanced editing but I am not sure I would need the advanced tools very often. To me Photoshop was overkill for the average photographer (non professional) and AfterShot Pro seems to be an excellent tool so would Paintshop Prob be another case of overkill? To those of you that use both...what would your thoughts be? Thank you

There are tools available in PSP X7 that are not in ASP if you want to do some pixel level editing and fine tuning. I get my images to a decent point in a Raw editor like ASP or DxO Optics Pro, then export to PSP for fine tuning. I use several Topaz plugins like Clarity and Detail in PSP as well for enhancing my Tiff images I exported from the previously named programs. Quite useful.
