I have a question, not sure what to make of this. I have set up Videostudio x7 for HD editing, in the same way shown in this Gripps Tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4eSYNb47eU
Here is my issue. When I go to "Settings/Preferences/Performance and uncheck "Auto generate proxy template", and click "options", I get a window called "Video Save Options" with a "General" and a "Compression" tab.
My computer here shows this window just like it is shown in Gripps tutorial.
I have just installed VSx7 on another computer I use. When I go to this window on this new computer, I do not see the same "Video Save Options" window, and in the window I see here there is no "Compression" tab. There is a different tab....and I can't remember what it is called, but there are a few different options in it, none of them are H.264 HIGH as Gripps calls for. In fact I don't know which one to use, or even what they are, this is all different.
On my current machine I have service pack 1 installed, and when I installed the program on the brand new other machine I updated the program there as well.
Can someone tell me what is going on here?

Re: Question about performance settings
Well, not a lot of action here! Maybe I was too vague. I'll try and post a couple of screen shots, one of each example. And I should ask, what do you folks who use VSx7 see when you look at that box? And do you set up your computer like Gripps suggests, or do you use a different setting?

Re: Question about performance settings
What is shown in the Video Proxy Options box as the proxy format? In my setup it shows HD mp4 by default. But when I click on the Template button to the right of that window, I am offered a choice of DV or DVD (mpeg-2) formats, which you are supposed to choose from as the proxy format (since the objective of SmartProxy is to make copies of your HD original video in SD formats which are easy to edit and play).
If I choose DVD as the proxy format, then I get, under Options, a two tab box General and Compression (since DVD mpeg-2 is a compressed format). If on the other hand I choose DV as the proxy format, I get General and AVI since DV is a format which calls itself AVI and only has one set of properties...

Re: Question about performance settings
That video is useless... basically he created a custom HD profile for "Smart Proxy". Not very relevant, it will be slower than the default SD profiles - if you care to use a Proxy file for your work.
The other settings that are on that page, relative to hardware acceleration, and that are supposed to speed up the process... they just don't work for me - I did open another thread about that.
PS: You know that if you pay only one time for the software, you are supposed to install only a copy, on one machine only? Not judging, just saying...
