X7 Network Deployment: Public properties

Post by ORFO Tech »

The PSPX7 Deployment Guide lists the various public properties that can be used when deploying PSP to a number of people. In PSPX6 there was a property named "neverregister", this would prevent the software registration prompt from appearing for users. I don't really want my single volume license registered 120 times.

This property is not mentioned in the X7 deployment guide. Does anybody know if it's still a valid property?

If not, does anybody know how I can block the registration prompt from appearing for my 120 installations? Another property? A Windows registry tweak?

I think this is something you need to take up with Corel. Maybe someone here will have information, but this is really a Corel issue.

Just to clarify trueblue's response, this is a user-to-user board. None of us here works for Corel, and Corel execs only rarely appear here, and then usually only in their private capacity.

I completely understand this is a User to User forum and what it means. And many times users have the answers and work-arounds that the developers and engineers aren't otherwise willing to give up, or at least not in a timely fashion. The number of users far outweigh the number of developers and the user community can have some pretty innovative thoughts.

My question still stands. If a user out there has deployed PSP X7 in a small business or enterprise situation, then they have probably dealt with the issue and I'm asking for their assistance. If they are a participant in the forum is a wholly different question. I still think the question is legitimate and of use to the user community.

And I have a support request into Corel as well. A will follow up my question with their response, should the community not come up with one, or comes up with a different one.

Thank you for the consideration of my query.

So the answer to my query is ....

I ran an installation using the IOFF=1 parameter. It does appear to prevent the registration prompt from being displayed. It also removes a number of items from the Help menu as well. Specifically, the menu items for:
- User Guide
- Video Tutorials
- Corel Support
- Download More Content
- Check for Updates.

None of which appear to be critical or can't be accessed by other means.

I have yet to test the other user accounts on a single computer.

I think the IOFF switch will be workable for my deployment. The deployment guide, however, isn't specific enough about what features the IOFF switch affects. It just lumps "all network-related features" together.
++++++++++++++++++++
FYI: I also found a registry key that can disable the Registration Prompt and gray out the Registration option on the Help menu.

After an installation and the initial registration. This registry key and its 4 subvalues can be exported:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\PaintShop Pro\X7\CorelReg\TS17]

I haven't tested to find out what specific value effects the software registration. But one or more of these values prevents the registration prompt from appearing and disables the Help> Registration menu selection when merged with the user account's registry. The remaining Help Menu options above remain active. It does have to be applied to each user account on the computer, however.

I'm satisfied with the IOFF solution.
