Video Background - VS Ultimate X7

Post by MLSM »

Have created very lengthy memorial video of beloved mother-in-law's 80 years in VS Pro X6. Have upgraded to VS Ultimate X7 & am hoping to create a video background track. Seems this is possible in the HTML5 format. Is there a way to convert/import my existing work to the HTML5 format OR to add a video background track to my Pro X6 project? My apologies if this is an easily answered question...I searched forum without success & since memorial celebration date is coming up fast, I do not have time to fully view all the new tutorials. Thanks to all for any help.

What do you mean by video background track? What do you want to show there? What do you want in the main track?
Why HTML5? Do you want to show the video on the web?
How long is "lengthy"?

We are using many hundreds of still photos of various sizes & were thinking of inserting a background with some interesting movement but nothing too distracting. Have looked at the various FastFlick projects & although all are delightful, we don't want the pics resized, etc. We have used transitions & FX attributes instead & were wondering if after all this work there were an option to insert a background track that would not end up resizing our existing work. I did move the 1st track down & inserted a sample background but it required resizing all of the pictures individually & we don't have that amount of time. As for asking about HTML5, I noticed in my quick review of my newly upgraded version that the HTML5 projects all start with a background track available while I haven't seen that elsewhere. Although not done, the slideshow is already 45 mins long & I haven't yet added the video clips. intended to end the show. Although I will make this available for all family, etc. & I do, in fact, create & host many websites, I will probably use a cloud distribution rather than web so the HTML5 is not an important option for me but rather that background track is. Again, my sincere apologies for not having the time to fully utilize the tutorials but our memorial celebration is fast approaching & I have accomplished precisely what we wanted with the existing work but upon review, wish I had thought about the background track before sizing, animating & transitioning all of these photos. So, just hoping there is a way to insert a background track to my existing project. Thanks for the interest in helping.

No matter how you make the background video and regardless of what format it is it has to go in to the top video track to be a background - so you might as well use a standard format the pictures then have to go in one of the overlay tracks - I don't know an alternative.

when moving photos into the overlay track have you investigated the track options such as "fit to screen" - 'Default size' - - 'fit to project size' - - etc.

Hi

First open the project and Save As to save a copy, give it a new name.

There is an option from F6 Preferences to change the background colour, unfortunately that does not allow the use of other images, maybe a post to VideoStudio Wishlist for Version X8 is on the cards?

I don’t know if this will work as I have never tried, and don’t know exactly what your timeline looks like?

You set the background colour (F6) Preferences to Green
You render the project slide show to a new video file. (Share Create Video File)
Start a new project
Place the video in the overlay track and Fit to Screen, (right click preview screen for options)
Double click clip in timeline to open Options panel.
Use Mask & Chroma Key
Apply Overlay Options –Similarity Green

That should remove the green background.

Add your new background to the top track.

My thanks to all who answered...great help. Lata, that sounds perfect & easy to follow instructions. I may have enough time for that if the rendering goes well. Brilliant!
