Can't import video audio

Post by Sparrowhawk4 »

Hi,

I recently downloaded the free trial of VideoStudio X7, and have been trying to make my first video on there. The problem I'm having is that VideoStudio doesn't seem to recognise the audio files on the clips I'm trying to import.

The files are ripped off a DVD using Handbrake, and play absolutely fine in Windows Media Player and VLC media player. When I go to Import Media Files on VideoStudio, and click on info for the videos I want to import, I get Audio Type: None. The videos are H.264 High Profile Video, 24 bits, 720x576, 25fps.

Some of my other video files work, and some don't. The difference seams to be that, when I open them in VLC and look at the codec information, the ones that work have only one audio stream, which is MPEG ACC Audio. Those that don't, like the videos I currently want to edit, have in addition a second audio stream, which is down as A52 Audio. Any suggestions for how to work around this?

On an unrelated note, in the video info on VideoStudio under attributes, all but one of the videos have 16:9 listed at the end. One doesn't, which is strange as I did the same thing for all of them. This video opens in what looks like 4:3 (only in VideoStudio), and I can't for the life of me work out how to change it.

Thanks

Hi

Use Video Studio to Import Digital Media will import the files from disc, provided they are not copyright protected.

Right click the timeline –Import Digital Media, find your disc, follow the instructions.

Or when ripping choose an audio file type that works.

The safest media format is always standard .wav, though the files might be larger than other formats. I don't know what codecs Handbrake uses, but if, for example, you are creating mp3 audio files with it, it could be using the LameMP3 codec, and successive versions of Video Studio have had problems with that codec.
