Maybe it's the DVD player. What DVD Player are you using?

I downloaded MovieFactory yesterday and just started out using it, and the same thing happened to me with audio out of sync! First, I burned 3 short clips (4 minutes all together) onto a TDK DVD-R and that went fine. Then, I burned a much larger project (9 clips, approximately 83 minutes all together) on a TDK DVD-R and these are the problems I have encountered:

1. In clip 8, the audio is out of sync, but only by a second or two. All other clips play fine. Original clip does not have this problem.

2. I have 3 menus on my DVD (3 clips on 3 menus). On my DVD player, the buttons ('home', 'next' etc.) work fine, but they don't work when I want to play the disc on my computer. Also, my mouse turns into a hand when I point it to clip 1 and clip 2. Nothing happens when I point to clip 3. If I click on clip 2, the computer starts playing the first clip. The disc didn't have these problems when I played it in my DVD player, this only happens when I want to play it on my computer.

Anyone knows what I can do to solve these issues??

Thanks,
Heni

Audio sync problems

Post by geobek »

The audio sync problem could be a result of one or both of the following factors:

1. The field order for you capture device might be set wrong.

2. Your quality setting is two high and you are dropping frames.

DVDMF has a field order auto-detect option in the advance capture options. I had all kinds of strobing and sync problems when I let the software auto-detect. Try setting your field order priority to the opposite setting; run a sample. See if this solves the problem. If not return the field order to the prior setting.

Reduce your quality setting from 80% to 50% just for testing purposes. The quality of your recording will go down but this will allow the software/processor to keep up with writing frames and the audio. If the sync problem goes away, keep uping the setting; then test until you find the right balance between quality and speed. Try setting the sound from Linear PCM (LPCM) to MPEG audio at say 256 kbps. This will give you good quality sound and allow your software/processor to keep writing images (frames) without laboring on the sound.

Lastly, make sure that you have all the latests drivers for your capture device and your sound board.

When testing, you might find DVD Re-writeable discs helpful rather than burn write-once discs.

If all this fails, hopefully someone else on this board has a suggestion or give try giving tech support a call or email. They are really pretty good on turn-around.
