X7 - Video Pan and Zoom - Fade in / Fade out are GREYED OUT

Post by wsalopek »

Hi folks,

Using VideoStudio X7.

When I open the "Video pan and zoom" filter, and want to "fade in/out" a given pan/zoom that I have created (meaning slow down the pan/zoom at the ends of the pan/zoom, correct?), I can not select "fade in" or "fade out", as both buttons are GREYED OUT...and I can't figure out why.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

Hi Bill

Not sure I fully understand

But when Customizing the Pan and Zoom you can add additional Keyframes, that’s the red diamond at the beginning of the line.

Double click the grey line to add a keyframe, set the zoom ratios for each keyframe.
Tip you can right click a keyframe for copy and paste options

Does that help

Lata,

There is a line of several buttons:
CaptureFadeInOut.JPG
CaptureFadeInOut.JPG (13.3 KiB) Viewed 2394 times
They are:

Go to previous keyframe...add keyframe...remove keyframe...reverse keyframe...etc.

The last two buttons in that row are "fade in" and "fade out". Those two buttons are greyed out not selectable, and I can't figure out why.

First of all, I am assuming those two buttons change the behavior of the pan/zoom for a given keyframe...like "fade in" means to gradually accelerate the pan/zoom from it's starting keyframe, and "fade out" would mean to gradually decelerate the pan/zoom near the ending keyframe. Adding this accelerate/decelerate behavior makes it seem like the pan/zoom is more "human", or professional, as opposed to an abrupt start/stop of the pan/zoom.

Now maybe I have the use of those two buttons all wrong (I have worked with Premiere Pro in the past, and there was an accelerate/decelerate function like that for pans/zooms)...maybe VS has some sort of automatic acceleration/deceleration? Maybe fade in/out means something else?

In any case, those buttons are greyed out, and I'd sure like to know:

1) What DO they do...and

2) Why are they greyed out?

Thanks...

Hi

Thanks for the update, bottom line is I don’t know.

I had always thought those icons were for navigating the timeline.
Maybe others on the forum can shed light on the fade icons.

My thoughts are they are redundant, not used and probably should have been removed.
