MOD timecode wrong after split

Post by Brucewh »

I am experiencing a very strange problem. In a new project, I inserted an MOD file (from a Panasonic SDR-H18 camcorder) into the timeline as the first video track. Moved the Scrubber to 00:03:00.15, and Split the clip. No problem. Selected and deleted the first portion of the split, and the remainder of the video slid on down to the start of the timeline, as expected, and the timecode counter is at 0:00.00. But when I click on the clip to select it, the timecode counter says 00:03:00.15 when it is at the beginning of the clip. When I click on Project, the timecode is always correct. But when I select Clip, the timecode is always off by that three minutes in a fraction, no matter where the Scrubber is positioned. This only seems to occur with MOD files. Anybody have any idea what is going on and how I can fix it?

Nothing "going on" - when you play 'clip' VideoStudio looks at the original clip on your hard drive and if you have cut the first 3 minutes or whatever off then it shows the timecode at the cut -- when you play 'project' VideoStudio plays from your timeline and therefore 0:00 is at the beginning

happens to me with all video formats I use.

Hi

I agree with Brian, there is nothing wrong….

The digital clock is indicating the cut position in relation to the clip.

Try….
Cut the video into several sections, this creates separate clips.
Click each clip in turn and note the white bar below the preview screen, that indicates that section/clip, the digital clock shows the start point of that cut clip.

Delete the first clip. Then select the new first clip.
Now drag the left hand handle (Trim Marker) to the right (below the preview screen)
This will restore the frames, and indeed restore all if you drag far enough.
