Lost Video
I am running VS Pro X7 on windows 8.1. I had just finished the final touches on a video project and was sharing it. Somewhere in the process of sharing, I lost the video in my project file. To be more specific, I had shared it as an ISO file and then shared again as an MPEG 4 file. When playing the MPEG 4 file, I notice that after the first few minutes, there was no video. The sound was fine. I went back to my project file and found that the project file no longer had the video after the first few minutes. Again the sound was fine. In the project file, the video track was just showing a black and white bar. The ISO file I created was normal. I have no idea what happen or what I did wrong but it is very disconcerting to loose part of the project in the final steps. Fortunately in this case, I was able to go back to the previous version and repeat the single final edit. So I have recovered fine in this case. My concern is for the future. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? I think I was following normal procedures in the sharing phase and don't recall anything out of the ordinary. Any help would be appreciated. I may not be as fortunate to have a quick recovery next time. Thanks.

Re: Lost Video
Did you move or rename or do anything at all to the original file.
It sounds as though VideoStudio lost it's link to the original file you used in the project and any action you take on the video file outside of VideoStudio will cause that.
if that is the cause then clicking on the black and white bar in VideoStudio should produce a 'Relink' message which offers you the chance to show VS where the video is

Thanks for the reply. You are exactly right. After some further investigation, I found the original file in my recycle bin. I have no idea how it got there but I can't argue with the evidence. My head must have been up and locked. I may have gotten confused between my original mpg file and the shared mpeg 4 file. However, it did not give me the typical relink prompts. I have had to use those in the past and are pretty familiar with the relink process. Perhaps it is because I must of deleted the original file while the project was still open. In any case, I have been able to recover everything. Sorry for my confusion but I very much appreciate your help.

Re: Lost Video
Glad you were able to find your file again
I always create a separate project folder to which I copy all the files used in the project. This will leave the originals untouched and avoids accidental deletes.
