A newbie question

Hi,

I'm new in VS8. Can anyone tell me how to trim a video? Everytime when i try to save the trimmed clip, it just says "Rendering... please wait", and when it reach 100%, i can't find the trimmed video anywhere.

It should wind up in the library, but you can also locate the file manually. Go to My Documents -> Ulead Videostudio -> 8.0. The file with the newest timestamp should be the file you trimmed.

Before doing any work on any video, you need to make decisions in File > Preferences > General and File > Preferences > Preview. Each of these tabs gives you a chance to specify exactly where you'd like your project files (.VSP) and video files (.AVI or .MPG) to be kept. If you Save Frame as Still Photo, the resultant still shot will also go into one of those folders.

After you have specified the folders you want, remember to click Save. However:

You won't really end up with a "new" separate, edited, changed video file until you go to Share > Create Video File > Same as Project Properties.

thanks for replying. However, when I set the trim bar and click Clip -> Save Trimmed Video, I found the trimmed file uncut at all. Please help.

You're probably expecting to see video files change before your eyes. That's why I said you have to go to "Create..." before something new appears. Most of us don't "create" before doing a lot of editing.

If you click on "Project" above "Clip" just below the preview window, you will be able to view your video as you've edited it. But it's just showing you what you've decided, as summarized in the little .VSP file. It doesn't really exist as a separate new file till you "Create."
