Sync Videostudio to an Outside Mixer...
Is there a way to sync Corel Videostudio to an external audio mixer? The reason I ask is because I might be doing some foley work for a video blog I've been approached to work on.

Assuming you have two independent files then no not if you are hoping to do it automatically - VideoStudio does not have that facility
It can be done manually by putting video in one track and sound file in another and jogging them around until they line up - very fiddly I'm afraid

I wonder if it would be possible to use the voiceover track? The mixer input would need to be attenuated for a mic input on the PC or you may be able to get VS to recognise the line input, this way synchronisation would be easier.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Thats true Terfyn - you should be able to record both video and sound together live onto a laptop that should remain synced

Well, thanks for the responses. I guess to do the foley work, I would have to watch it from the video on Corel, then record it onto the other mixer, transfer the date file over and sync it up.

Have you tried using the voiceover track as I suggested? Use the voiceover process to align your sound effects with the video in VS, then move the tracks to one of the other audio tracks. If you make the voiceover track continuous from the start of the video then no syncing is required.algermilitia wrote:Well, thanks for the responses. Re: Sync Videostudio to an Outside Mixer...
Yeah. I can sync up audio that I've recorded along with the video real easy. My thoughts were doing foly work. Have the video play back and stop in specific areas as another audio recorder was recording sound effects people were creating for the video while watching it, so it could be synced up in post. Since doing it like full blown studios is out of the question with Corel software, the only path I can see to take is to record the pieces in a similar fashion, but then transfer them in individual audio snippets and align each one with the corresponding action on screen. It will take much longer, but still doable.
Again, thanks for your input on this matter.
