How to run Boris Graffiti 6.1 as a stand alone

Post by Mark Swanson »

Hi folks, I am using VS 7 ultimate, so I got Boris Graffiti with it. I see some are running it as a stand alone, and a tutorial I am trying to follow tells me I should do that for setting up and for some other things. I cannot find the application on my computer anywhere, it does run within VS though. I can find version 5.4 of Boris, but not the 6.1 at all. 6.1 will run within VS, so how can I find and run it by itself?

When you installed the Ultimate bonus pack, a shortcut for Boris Graffiti 6 should have automatically been placed on your desktop.

The Boris FX folder should be located in C:/ProgamFiles/

Click on Start, All programs and make sure that a folder for Boris Graffiti 6 is shown, open the folder, right click ob the Boris icon and send to desktop. If Boris does not show at all, you could try reinstalling Boris again.

Thanks...I have installed the program on two of my computers at home. Neither of them show a Boris icon on the desktop. I can locate the Boris FX folder that you mention, but the only thing that shows in that folder are the release notes, that's it- no icon, nothing else. It is strange, because the program will run from inside VideoStudio X7 on both of the machines.

I am using Windows 8.1, and the only icon which appears is also just the Release Notes for Boris. I have been through the folder in Program Files, and there is no exe file anywhere. It only works through VS...

I also have VideoStudio X5 on my machine, and it includes Boris 5.4 and that I can run as a stand-alone, and the icon is there to be found. But no Boris 6.1!

Just a point of interest, Gripps2211 YouTube channel also mentions the fact that Boris Graffiti 6.1 can be used as a standalone program in his Boris Graffiti tutorials

I have that same folder you have in the photo above, though mine is in Program Files (on my 64 bit setup). But while the other file and sub-folders are the same, it is nevertheless missing that exe file. And what does that exe open -- Boris or some other sub-program?

EDIT: I have just done a search of the entire C:\ drive on my Win 8.1 machine for that exe file (with and without the reference to (x86) in its name) and could find nothing. I didn't really expect anything with x86 since my Program Files (x86) folder does not contain any reference to Boris at all.

Hi Ken,

When I right click on the Boris Icon, then click on Open File location, that's the file location it goes to. Double clicking on the shortcut icon opens Boris Graffiti 6.1 and the full Corel version is available

If I open C:/ProgramFiles/BorisFX,Inc/Boris Graffiti 6, then that .exe folder does not show, it only shows under 32 bit

Hi

I can confirm that running Windows 7 Boris Graffiti was available to open as a separate program, however I have re-installed my programs and at the moment the Boris Graffiti has disappeared from the desktop and start menu, I don’t know what has happened there.

I will be re-installing again (sometime) so will take note.

Robert you show Graffiti 5.4 also being installed, is that the difference, that you have both installed,
Certainly I had several versions showing in my Programs and Features list, now only the 64 bit version, installed with X7

Maybe it’s the 32 bit installed with X6 that can be opened as a separate program?
