I need to insert into the timeline up to 50 video files from my hard disk in one go. When I do so, the order on the timeline is never the same as the order I selected. It's usually the reverse. Sometimes it seems random.
Any advice please.
Insertion order

Using VS 9
This has been mentioned before and is about time ulead sorted the problem.
It is because the files are named from 1 and not 001.
Thus one gets placed next to ten, two next to twenty and so on.
Workround (this is what I do)
Select the files to insert from the ‘open video window’
Select files one to nine only.
Select Open
From the change clip sequence window click the grey ‘clip file name’
This should sort your 9 clips in order.
Click OK
Now repeat and insert the remaining 10 to 50
Tip:- Select all then deselect 1 to 9
Its just a bit of a pain, if you have over 100 it gets worse.
All the Best.

Trevor said: "It's just a bit of a pain" and I would heartily second that comment! When you have to handle 180 clips, and you get them inserted in the order you want, you do get a WONDERFUL SENSE OF MASTERY of a process ... except that it's a total waste of time and shouldn't be necessary!
"Insert in order originally taken" should be an option.
Or the dialogue box with the clips should be five times larger!
My workaround has been to cancel Clip Recognition and create my own clips by scanning through the material and cutting. Clip Recognition (or whatever it's called) is far too sensitive and creates far more clips than should really exist.
