working with layers

Post by berguy100 »

Hello everyone, I have been using Paint Shop for a number of years off and on. Basically for restorations and the likes, I have made a add for the company I work with and I was not able to save my file correctly. By this I mean I have several layers and I wanted to save the project without merging the layers to later complete it. It merged the layers and I had to start over again. Is there a way to save the file without merging?

Thank you for your comments, much appreciated.

Regards

I am not sure why you posted your question in the Members Samples forum. I have moved it to the Paintshop Pro forum where you are likely to get more answers.

You need to save to a file format that supports layers.

For PSP it's best to save to PSP's own special format (.pspimage). Depending on the types of layers you use, you can also save to PSD format (photoshop document) as this will make it useable by other people. But this format doesn't support some layer types.

It's simply a matter of having a good work flow and habits. I always save in pspimage format. Only when I need to distribute or print a file do I save it in another format.
The lesson is to always save in pspimage format.
